*** The Official iPhone 17 thread (it has new camera bumps and everything!) ***

Figured out in the end why YouTube wasn’t playing for me on safari on 4G… turns out being connected to Bluetooth on my car stops it working. I feel like a total fool.
 
Got my iPhone 17 already and first impressions that immediately hit you is how light it is vs the 14 Pro - it makes such a huge difference! I am awaiting a case however so I'll not shove my SIM into this just yet. Speed wise however it feels no different to the 14 Pro in general use opening and using apps, I don't game so I imagine that is one area where I would see a difference.

The action button that I'd forgotten about is quite a nice feature once I added a shortcuts folder to it. Struggling to get used to that camera sensor button that is located below the power button however. Guess I need to delve into settings to tweak its settings.

Agreed - my 17 Pro is "only" 34g lighter than my old 13 Pro Max but the difference feels like it's way more than that. Maybe they played clever tricks with where the weight is?
Speed wise it was night & day - goes to show that maybe the 14 was way faster than the 13?

Circumstances meant this didn't happen in October.

But it's happened now. Orange 17PM ordered, should arrive at the end of the week.
 
Bought the 17PM but don't think it's meaningfully better than the 15 Pro Max I had before.

The only two things I notice are 1) the selfie camera is a welcome improvement (although ultra wide and telephoto on the rear are still terrible) and 2) the vapour cooling thing genuinely works, can edit video and use Lightroom without it overheating and dimming the screen.

Otherwise don't really notice much difference. If I hadn't missed the return window by 1 day I would have sent it back and kept my 15.

In the back of each one, I've got a USB-C to Lightning cable. I've got a Lightning to USB-C adapter (in fact, I bought a pack of three).

If I plug the iPhone 17 into one of them, it charges.

If I plug it into the other, it doesn't charge. Without the adapter, my 13 Pro Max charges on either of them.

Official Apple monitors, official Apple cables.

Bonkers.
 
Looking to swap from an S24 ultra to either a 16 or 17 iphone. Is the 17 worth the increase over the 16? I'd only be using it for camera and a few light apps.
 
Balls - got the Pro Max to try out, but don't like the size, but had some god awful bug and gone past my return window haha.

If you have a C to C cable in both does the 17 charge okay?
 
I’ve got an iPhone 14. Lightning cable requirement is doing my head in. Thinking of going to the 17. Has anyone traded their old phone in store before? I need to transfer over all my work accounts 2factor Authenticator stuff. Plus all my banking. I take it they let me do this at the store before handing in the old phone?
 
Bought the 17 in misty blue on Saturday. Held onto my old 14 just now to make it easier transferring 2factor stuff. Then apple should take the 14 back for £200. Not bad. 17 is a lot lighter than my 14 and I love the colour of this blue.

Any quick tips I should take advantage of?
 
I am loving the colour of my orange, one week old 17 PM. With that slight lip around the edge at the front, it actually looks like it's in a case. Of course, that's something I'd never do.

I honestly hate everything about my silver one. I need to get it up on the MM really.
 
My 17 Pro Max regularly complains about moisture in the charging port and won't charge. There's no moisture in there at all. I see a few other people complaining about this, is it worth getting Apple to switch it out? It does have Apple Care+ cover.

I have an s24 ultra and got a great offer on a gorgeous Orange 17 Pro which I couldn't refuse however, the only thing I like about the iPhone is the camera - its very easy indeed to get a great looking pic with one click whereas the Samsung needs a bit of setting up to get that over-coloured look that malkes photos on the iPhone look so good. So, currently, still using the Sammy and just get out the iPhone now and again for the odd pic. Its very hard moving from one ecosystem to the other and vice versa, i would imagine.
