*** The Official iPhone 17 thread (it has new camera bumps and everything!) ***

I have an s24 ultra and got a great offer on a gorgeous Orange 17 Pro which I couldn't refuse however, the only thing I like about the iPhone is the camera - its very easy indeed to get a great looking pic with one click whereas the Samsung needs a bit of setting up to get that over-coloured look that malkes photos on the iPhone look so good. So, currently, still using the Sammy and just get out the iPhone now and again for the odd pic. Its very hard moving from one ecosystem to the other and vice versa, i would imagine.
Yea the only reason I was going to do the move was because my car only has apple car play

Right.
Gave my new iPhone 17 a good run last week when I took my godson out to Sealife World in London as well as other places. Official verdict is the camera sucks in low light compared to my 14 Pro and that camera button on the side messed up a lot of shots on a 1.5yr old brat running around the place. I really struggled with the latter so I either need to adjust more or just avoid using it really as everytime I pressed it to get a photo, the zoom scale indicator would appear. Not looked if I can disable that functionality just yet.

Folks, I've got a weird issue with my iPhone 17 that I've never had before on my previous models.

At any one time I would be staring at the display reading etc, and then the thing just boots me back to the lock screen. It is very random and on any app so I can't work out what the issue is just yet. FYI I thought it was 'Attention Aware' which I am about to switch off in Accessiblity and see if that makes a difference over the next day or so.

Anyone had this experience before?

It does sound like the attention aware thing. What's your timeout set to? I think the default is 30 seconds with is ridiculously short.

Mine doesn't go to the lock screen but the screen dims really quickly when looking at the screen. I posted in here a but back and the usual suggestions off attenion aware and other things to try, never sorted it. I swear it was never so short in my older iPhones.

I noticed when I switched to the 17 that the 'auto-lock' reverted back to 30 seconds from the three minutes I previously had it.

I've now switched AA off for now. I stupidly rebooted the phone also without thinking - should have left it for now. Screen lock I always set to 5mins as I have a habit of manually locking the phone anyway.

Thanks that's the feeling I am getting battery life is getting worse, which isn't helped buy the latest update. The £400 trade in and 0% offer started reel me in! I will resist though!

So I have given and ordered one  Are the Apple silicon cases still the best ones to get, to avoid the slipperness of iPhonesor is the tech woven one worth a look?

I need a case, as they slip out of my hands, I wish I didn't need but I do. I also don't require one which would survive a direct hit from one trumps missiles!

Any suggestions ?

I went from a 15 Pro to a 17, mostly because I want the lightest phone possible in the form factor.

The Apple silicone cases are nice, but not sure they hold up over time as they can split and peel around the corners. I usually try to buy one on eBay for much less than RRP. I am caseless with AppleCare+, to keep the weight down and also enjoy the hand feel of the glass and metal.

Agreed I wish I could go without a case but it just slides out of my hand all the time. Silicon cases get replaced by Apple free of charge even after 18 months or more - that tells you mark up on them! Problem with Ebay though is they are full of fakes and seemingly its more hassle then its worth. At least with Amazon it's easier to send back.

Anyone else have any suggestions on cases?

I like the Spigen Ultra Hybrid MagFit Case.

I find it’s better than the Apple clear case as that just seemed to add bulk without improving grip.

The Spigen shows a bit of the original phone through the frosted back but has a pleasant grippy texture.

I hate sliperry cases, I have https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spigen-Com...76179761&sprefix=spigen+,aps,429&sr=8-21&th=1

and it's great, strong magnet, great grip and extra lens protection.

This looks nice. Does it feel rubbery and pick up line easily?
its rubber but hard rubber not the "soft liquid" stuff hides finger prints etc quite well, I've had mine since 17pro release and it's got no marks on it.. dropped a million times.
