***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Cancelled my order. 1-2 week person who ordered at 5.06, probably won't get before some time in January is what I've been told.

Forget that, it'll be 3 months old with new phones due in February.

LG clearly don't have the manufacturing capacity, and Google's distribution channels must consist of 3 people shipping orders at random.

Have had GN for about 13 months now, has been solid so far. What's another 2-3 months.

I hope LG's and Google's reputation gets damaged because of this.

What happened with the nexus 7 is there was such a rush at the start that peoples orders got messed up with multiple orders etc so had to be sorted manually later where as the later orders went though normally, so i'd assume the same happened here.

I've cancelled too... I've never seen anything quite like it, and I haven't got the patience to search forums in the hope I can get some information about a poxy phone I've ordered.

Google stink when it comes to retail and should stick to websites imo.

Has anybody that ordered there's on release day had their shipping charge refunded? I just looked at my bank statement and noticed I've had £9.99 returned from google.

Look in wallet and you should see the reason for the refund.

Just checked my account & I do indeed have a refund for the shipping.

Your order has been shipped!
Google Commerce Ltd shipped your order. Have questions? Contact Google Commerce Ltd.

You were refunded by Google for £9.99.

I've been using my Nexus 4 for about 2 weeks and comparing it to my Samsung Galaxy S3 it looses signal very easily. I thought the S3 was rubbish for signal but Jesus the Nexus 4 is awful!

Lol, change networks or move house. The S3 and the N4 have great signal, the n4 is better than a lots of the modern phones I have played with. (S2 , GN, S3)

Google have just ringfenced the funds in my account again, progress!

*edit*
Little worrying, the payment is showing up in my statement as a POS (point of sale?) paid out...they took the moneyz!
8GB - 3-4 day estimate ordered at 5:08

Don't quite understand that. You're happy using your 13+ month old GN for another 2-3 months, yet you're not happy waiting that same 2-3 months (probably sooner) for the Nexus 4 to come back into stock? The N4 is hardly going to become horribly outdated in those 2-3 months, and your current GN lasted you 13 months, so the N4, with Google's support for their Nexus devices, could last you 13 months too, or maybe even longer since it has a pretty damn nice CPU and RAM.

Cancelled my 16GB order - only ordered the 16GB as it said 1-2 wks where the 8GB said 3-5wks. (ordered both 16 + 8)

8GB came 3 days after ordering...lulz.

New HTC devices will be out February. Sony will have a similar release date. Nexus 4 had the advantage of giving me 4 months of cutting edge performance before these phones are out. May as well wait and see now. GN suffices but does suffer in performance and battery life, so it isn't something I'd willingly to stick to.

Personally I don't know why anyone should even bother with an Android phone that isn't a Nexus. Jelly Bean was announced with the Nexus 7 back in like July, and it was available OTA in less than a week. Yet the flagship devices of each company are only just barely seeing JB being released now in November/December.

Sure, there's custom roms, but you're always walking a wire by hoping that the developer community picks that phone up, whether the company will help developers and unlock bootloaders and such, and whether or not drivers will break rendering features buggy or useless.

Mine has been ring-fenced again, but hasn't appeared on my statement. Hopefully this is progress!

Bit of a close minded view?

There are plenty of reasons why people would get a non nexus device over a nexus device:

Regarding the nexus 4 being old tech in 3-4 months times, hardly lol :p

- using the best CPU chipset there is with 2GB RAM and most phones released in the next year will be using the same, besides we have hit the point where we have more than enough CPU/GPU power etc. now
- once google sort the software out, the nexus 4 will be one of the best phones for battery life, only beaten by the likes of the note II, RAZR MAXX etc.
- one of the best screens currently, will be loads of 1080P res. screens soon though, however, that doesn't mean that the nexus 4 screen will then suck
- nexus device so will get the updates quickly and be guaranteed to get them, how many of the current top end phones will get the next big android update V5.0 or whatever and if they do, what sort of time frame are we looking at, 4-6 months again?
- great audio (again most phones will be using the same onboard audio codec [from the snapdragon S4 chipset], so they will all be more or less the same)
- price, whatever HTC etc. bring out, you can be damn sure they won't match the price of the nexus 4 from the play store

Not going to see anything beating the nexus 4 by a good amount till the likes of the GS 4, note 3 and whatever HTC's next flagship device is after the butterfly etc.
