***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

I managed to get my phone rooted and install the new PA. Can anyone tell me what the difference between the 3 tablet ui settings are as they all look exactly the same as the phone one to me?

Also i thought higher dpi meant sharper smaller images and text yet it seems that shrinking dpi on this has that effect? :/

Well mine managed to throw itself off a flat surface (2ft) onto tiled floor this evening - smashing the screen.

Not impressed, as the damn thing always seems to slip off surfaces due to the curve/gorilla glass.

Ouch.

I got my 16gb over the weekend, I'm definitely going to buy a flip case like the Nilkin or the Poetic. Although the back of the nexus is nice I don't think it's worth exposing it to the risk of cracking.

theres a few people round here that would say your lying and that screen burn on an lcd is impossible.

i on the other hand recommend you try out paranoid android from xda, its a custom rom which gets rid of the menu bar and the notification bar, and you now have a pop up pie menu instead, you can also revert between the two by disabling extended desktop from the power menu or you can simply use it in phablet or tablet mode which makes the bars smaller or combines both into one small bar, reducing further screen burn.

anyway im sure you would benefit from this rom and it would cure the burn in problems

lol I can assure you I'm not lying (no reason to), I'd take a pic but the only camera I have is the phone :p

Yes I'll be trying out PA some time, I used it on my GS2 and loved it. Like the idea of replacing the notification bar and menu bar for more screen space.

Feel for you mate. Dropped mine loads and so far been lucky. They slide around on any surface

+1 I ordered on: 4 December 2012 22:25:53 UTC

People who ordered on 12th/ 9th are already getting theirs shipped.

Ive still not received any shipping email and order still pending in google wallet

It would appear mine has shipped too, just got two emails saying so and the expected delivery date is today?

Talk about a last minute update!

You should always rubber up.

They shouldn't look the same 0_o

You have PhoneUI, PhabletUI & then 3 types of tabletUI (these are just different sized tabletUI's I personally used 220 before I moved to PIE it makes the bar either bigger or smaller). In paranoid settings tap the top left & then go into interface or apps to change things up. Layout/UI inside apps will have the different UI's for apps.

But remember the app has to support that layout.

PIE can be enabled from toolbars in normal settings & then turn on expanded desktop from the power button if you want that.

I think its one of those situations where only you can decide, you've done a good job of working out the positives for each so now it comes down to what is important to you.

One of the main positives for the Nexus 4 is the price, but as you need to go the contract route that one is out and it makes it a harder choice.

Personally if I was going the windows route I'd probably pay a little more a month and get the 920.

Cheers :) I decided to go for the nexus 4 in the end, but i up'ed the contract to 31 pounds a month to give 1GB data and unlimited minutes.

I did a bit of self-analysis and realised i'm the kind of person who enjoys tweaking and customising everything technological and therefore i'd have a lot more fun with android. Windows doesn't allow much in the way of customisation. Also i discovered the nexus i will be getting is a 16GB version so that sealed the deal. It should arrive tomorrow... can't wait :D

^^ Use all the default apps, check the Play Store for the most popular apps and play about in the settings menu.

I havent taken many pictures, but I've not noticed any purple tint. I wasn't expecting much from the camera but had been fairly unimpressed having only taken pictures indoors, but took one outside yesterday (snow pic obviously), and was pretty happy with the result.

Just to confirm, is this the Poetic bumper people are getting: "Poetic Borderline Bumper case for Google Nexus 4 Smart Phone E960 LG Black/Gray(3 Year Warranty from Poetic)" ?

Also, I think, someone mentioned a problem with the design of one of the cases that is now being fixed in a new batches of cases. Can't recall if that was the poetic bumper or some other case? it was mentioned recently but i can't find it in the thread :(
