***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

I have put the franco kernel on. very noticeable battery life difference.

any recommendations for a rom to install? can i put any rom on with the franco kernel or will they conflict?

cheers :)

There aren't any ROMs out there at the moment that you cannot use franco on, as far as I know.

ROMs...depends what you are looking for really. AOKP has tons of features but from what I've heard it isn't particularly stable at the moment. PA offers the ability to change app layouts and sizing (DPI). CM10.1 M1 has just been released if you want something relatively stable and close to stock with a few extra features.

Wow, my order from 4th Dec still not shipped, my brother just got his shipping email from the 8th of Dec.

Which number do I call to chase up the order? Gonna RAGE

From their website:

"To talk to a member of the Google Play team, call 0800 328 6081. Our support team is available 24/7."

There are apps that allow you to change the screen calibration yes, franco does one, i believe you require root for this though here

Has anyone got a dock yet? I ordered one from Amazon (the one offered by Foneboy) but it never arrived, got it refunded today :(

[rant] Google need to sort out the state of their accessories - no sign of the wireless charger, no official dock and one bumper case. They know now how many people want the phone, get it sorted! And don't get me started on the N7 accessories...[/rant]

I ordered the Zenis dock from eBay and that suits me fine. Until Google release an official dock and the wireless charging orb/stand that is. :)

Amen. They announced lots of accessories at the launch but there's nothing to order!

With all these shipping emails being sent, surely stock can't be long off being in the play store(fingers crossed) as this LG GM360 is doing my nut in. Loads of software issues including a random text/phone tone is selected everytime a text or call is recieved, and a really random battery life.

Really wished I preordered it when I got the chance before.

I got mine today.

A few of questions, as I have not used stock or JB before.

1) Can you reduce the amount of homescreens somehow (on Touchwiz and GoLauncher on my SGS2 I could).

2) When you swipe up from the bottom of the phone, it gives a shortcut to google search. Is this configurable to add other app shortcuts?

3) Apart from swipe up from bottom for Google, swipe single finger down from top for notifications, swipe 2 fingers down from top for "quick settings", is there any other gestures?

No to all of these. However if you installa custom ROM or use a different launcher, the first, and I think likely the second, are possible.

Waited all day and nothing arrived im a sad panda :(

Checked tracking and it seems its on dublin (came from computer 2000 mainland) now for some reason

Cheers,

I will stick with the stock ROM for now and see if I can get used to the changes.

Another question: Is there a way to remove my settings from Google Music? I have already removed the syncing, but i want to remove my account from it (and maybe a couple of other google apps like Talk). I plan to use another music player.

Just disable it. Go to Settings, Apps, swipe over to All, find the app, and disable it. You may be able to drag the icon from the app drawer to App Info at the top to get to this, I think that is available on stock.

You can sign out of Talk without disabling it. If you use the service, don't bother finding an alternative unless you need multi-protocol support, as you won't find any better.

There is no way that I can see to run Play Music without an account. That said, if you are looking for a cloud service, it is fantastic (and caches songs locally too so that you aren't constantly downloading them).

Instead of disabling, I just deleted the cached data from the apps. Basically Google Music and the Gallery had both already streamed/cached content from my google account (which I did not want to do as I don't really use these services and it may create duplicates when I sync using other applications).

I have used PlayMusic before, but it is a pain to sync the music as it doesn't recognise iTunes Smart Playlists, which I use a lot. I have Player Pro which I will download shortly and use iSyncr to sync from my Mac to the onboard storage.

Woah, the battery life is dire it didn't even manage 8 hours on the first charge!

Any tips for an Android newb to keep things ticking over for longer?

I've dropped the brightness and killed any apps I don't want but there doesn't appear to be anything running.

Thanks for the reply.

I've not used Google now, not configured - can I just delete?

Same with Google maps, it's not configured to share my locals.

However in "location access" in settings "Access my Location" and "GPS satellites" are both ON. I assume that is OK?

You can't remove it unless you root, you might be able to disable it through settings >apps>Google search

You will loose the search function if the above does work.

The latitude/locals thing is different to location reporting.

Yeah that is fine, the access is so other apps like browser, weather apps etc. Can find out your location, gps satellites is a more accurate method of finding out your location, turning it of and just using the network method will save power.

Btw I updated my last post with a link to another thing that needs to be done.

You won't get much more out of battery until you root and flash a custom kernel or Google fix the software problems.
