***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

nothing to do with that, but to do with people who use their phones a lot.

say i have to drive for 2-3 hours in a day, that means i will have my bluetooth connected to my head unit for that amount of time. now say i have to use sat nav as well at the same time. my battery used to get raped on the stock kernel and rom, and i would have to charge it halfway through the day. now i no longer need to. that is why i wanted the phone to operate more efficiently. also use 5g wi-fi at home which eats the battery up on stock.

the more time you get out of the phone, the more useful it makes the phone in long journey situations or even when your bored, playing a game would decimate the battery, now it still does but not to the same extent, im talking proper games like gta, need for speed, etc not paper toss.

What is this 5G you keep talking about?

you're a silly billy if you use satnav without it plugged in a ciggy lighter

that will drain you dead.

impossible to do in my car, the only place i can position my mount in a decent place is to the right of the steering wheel, the ciggy lighter is to the left where the gear stick is, therefore the wire would need to travel around the steering wheel somehow, which will just end in a much bigger problem than low battery life.

therefore i just charge either before a car journey where i need sat nav or afterwards

yeah 5G wi-fi is 5ghz wi-fi, which is faster than normal wi-fi

Well I'm more than happy with the battery life especially for phone calls which appear to barely sap the power!

50+ hours on a full charge for a smartphone = very pleased.

**** **** sake, this rooting malarky is a PITA.

Complete the first stages using this guide, but phone doesn't appear as it does in the guide at 07:10: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=8FoKdqlQ7G4

But my phone cannot be seen in my computer when using MTP so I cannot transfer the files as required. I can sometimes see the phone in my computer when it's set as camera, but it doesn't come up when choosing MTP.

Any idea, tried rebooting, playing around with different usb ports and it just doesn't show up.

EDIT: Found a fix for those with the same problem:

set USB mode as MTP (Media)
Using PC device manager uninstall the device ->Android Device = Android ADB Interface

then set the USB mode to PTP (Camera)
Using PC device manager uninstall the device ->Portable Devies = Nexus 4

Then unplug the USB and plug it back in (ensuring that its set to MTP (Media) and I found that the device was correctly registered in Device manager as a ->Portable Devies = Nexus 4

THIS WORKS!!!! Also check the box "delete the driver software" when it comes up on ADB device uninstall

Thanks Ben_Pyett!

My Car (2002 Civic) has the Ciggy Socket on the wrong side of the gear stick and my Phone is mounted to the right of my steering wheel... I've just popped a 3in1 Ciggy Lighter box in the cubby under the stereo (as I plug my FM iPod transmitter in too). I bought a low profile USB style lighter power plug for my phone (1 Amp Sony Ericsson one for £6, so it charges rather than trickle-charges!) which came with 1.5m Sony USB cable which routes and tucks into the Dash above the Steering wheel on its journey to the Phone position, along with the power for the FM transmitter... No problems... No Muss, No Fuss!! :)

I then stick my phone on charge and GPS Test on so I have an accurate speedo for most journeys!

Any tips or links as to the best ways to customize your home screen and phone?

I've got PA installed and honestly have no idea where to start. never bothered with it on my old HTC Desire so I'm a right noob.

I see mention of Nova and other such things, but it's completely over my head atm, especilaly after seeing some of the setups with fancy clocks, weather widgets and app layouts :(

Nova or apex (I recommend nova) is what you want for homescreen customisation (it is just the base/foundation), just hold down on the dock icons to bring options up, go into the menu and have a look around.

You want weather, calendar etc. widgets then you need to install apps from the market like simple calendar, snowstorm, eye in the sky etc. and just the widgets to the homescreen.

Does anyone know what colours the LED flashes for certain notifications by default? I have Lightflow installed, but noticed earlier it was flashing orangeish when I had a voicemail and that alert was not from Lightflow. Just wondering if there are any others so I can set Lightflow to use colours that don't conflict with the built in alerts of the phone.

That is very weird, since I installed lightflow I have never seen any other notifications come from the system.

LightFlow won't run alongside other app notifications, it runs as an accessibility application that takes over those notifications. Might be a bug or something, might be worth rebooting your phone or turning off/on the notifications in LightFlow again.

Definitely have LightFlow enabled in the Accessibility menu in Settings?

Hmmm... Now I think about it, missed calls is set to red and I guess a missed call usually precedes a voicemail!!!

I'm awaiting my Rearth Ringke Slim from the states for everyday phone protection, then a Note 2 pouch for storing the phone whilst on the move with said Rearth case attached.

What case are you lot using?

Soft black rubber, £2 on the bay.

It's slim enough not to look stupid and soft enough to protect the phone.

I'm not a fan of bumpers, my friends who have phone bumpers typically have smashed or starched to hell phones.

Pics/links? I have the poetic bumper on order. However I am going away next week and wanted a cheapo case as the poetic's are shipped from USA so could be a while before I get it :(
