***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Its the Google conference in 2 weeks. Lots of rumours. I expect to see a new nexus 7 and possibly a updated nexus4 or at least a 32gig version. The lack of band variants has hampered sales so you never know.

Got it working :D

Probably over exaggerated when i said all day ;)

Anyway what ROM's would y'all recommend?

I use Paranoid Android and Franco Kernel, normally get around 3-4 hours screen time, but this is without ever using WiFi and somewhat aggressive on the H+ data usages (300-500mb a day) which could be killing my battery. Others get around 5 hours with that combo, those that stick to WiFi more.

i dont think you will see a newer or bigger nexus 4, the nexus 5 or whatever the next model is going to be called is now what roughly 6/7 months away from being released. makes no sense to make a new model on a yearly released phone (going by recent release times). especially given that this phone is sold not for a profit, making a new model would severely increase manufacturing costs, therefore the new model would be a lot more expensive given its short run of production before the nexus 5.

16GB for me is more than enough i still have 5GB available with well over 100 apps installed, in fact a lot of those aren't even ones that i use on a regular basis.

Yeah I see your point. I read a lot off android and Google sites daily. Seems to be some strong indication of a new nexus7 (makes sense) and nexus4 refresh. It might just be a rumour. It could be a lte version, a white model or larger capacity.

I would not want to put money on it. Either way we will find out in 3 weeks

if this does get launched, i take it the 8GB will vanish, the 16GB will become the 8GB and the 32GB will be the new 16GB.

if so i'm pretty sure a lot of users will be miffed and you could see a rise in the number of 8GB's and 16GB's hitting auctions sites.

i personally don't see the need for a 32GB or LTE version, especially since LTE is not on every network and especially since 16GB is more than enough imo for a phone. i would personally wait for the nexus 5.

google music, dropbox, box, etc are the future imo, in 5 years time, i bet onboard storage will be non-issue with the amount of cloud storage on offer and LTE becoming mainstream.

Yep... I have well over 100Gb of music on Google, plus DropBox and Box etc... I've got enough storage on my 16Gb Nex4 and 16Gb Nex7, I've actually still got 9Gb left on the Phone, and 5Gb on the Tablet!! :)

Yep I'm the same, I'm in no rush for an LTE version and always thought the Nexus 5 would be soon enough and was happy to wait a year or whatever. Although I was worried about storage space initially, I've embraced cloud storage and so thats also a non issue.

I've really been looking into one of these.

Do you reckon it would be a decent upgrade from a Lumia 800. I'm just fed up of the OS and not receiving any new updates after 7.8?

We can assume that the X phone could possibly be the next Nexus? Boosting KLP? Probably hosting S800 and such. Just my assumptions. Due a few months after I/O. We'd get a new tablet and Nexus 4 slight storage update/LTE variant at I/O I reckon. Or you never know they could surprise us. LG were reportedly working on the next Nexus, perhaps this could be the slightly redesigned N4 who knows we will find out in a few weeks.

From all that has been posted regarding the X phone, I don't think it will be a "nexus" device, just Motorola's flagship device but with google's involvement.

I would very surprised if we see a new nexus phone before November due to these reasons:

- google only release a nexus device once every year and iirc the last few nexus devices have been around November/xmas time
- the nexus 4 only really came into stock around January/February so it is too early to release a new one so soon

For the I/O in May, I am expecting:

- refreshed/upgraded nexus 7 running KLP
- possibly the X phone and running KLP too (however, recent articles have said that this won't be till later in the year, if true, as usual motorola will be late to the game :o :()

Possibly an upgraded nexus 4 regarding storage etc. but I don't think it will happen as we have had rumours like this with previous nexus devices and nothing ever happened.

Question is, will the X phone boot AOSP or customised MotoBlur based on KLP.

If running AOSP, why would we need another Nexus line of products, I can't see HTC or Samsung ditching Sense and TouchWiz to go full time AOSP as their UI's are selling points.

Now I know Moto can deliver some great phones of the past, can they do this with the X is the question.

Going by rumours/articles, it sounds much like their current skin on the RAZR HD, M etc. i.e. more or less stock android in terms of appearance but customised to have a more unified feel/look and with even more features.

I personally prefer their skin to "stock" but it lacks the features of sense/touchwiz currently.

If all the rumours/articles on the hardware live up to the hype then I think the phone could give both the GS 4 and one a run for their money, the new RAZR phones were excellent aside from the camera area.

The camera area is what I am most concerned about given google's/motorola's past in this department but again rumours/articles hint towards them doing something very special about it.

Next month will either be very disappointing or incredibly awesome! :D :p
