I'm guessing it something more like ....

It wasn't the explosion that they detected.

Desmonds boat has a locator beacon. The electromagnet thingy was producing a field that blocked the transmission. Desmond blows the electrothingy up and therefore the the locator beacon can transmit his location.

Makes sense (nothing else on Lost does mind you!)

The massive magnetic charge (or something) caused by the hatch machine must be detectable by some sort of measuring equipment installed near the north/south pole. The Widmore company must be paying them to wait there and try to track down the location of the charge. Somehow she must know that the disturbances can lead to Desmond.

EDIT - what SB118 said makes more sense and fills in the gap about how she knows it will lead to Desmond

And the Others probably didn't mind as they felt it a few months ago and have more pressing issues at hand.
 
On the computers it said in English something about an electromagnetic discharge, so they were specifically looking for that.

*edit* The computer that was in the office of those foreign people.
 
Heheehe. Its a good show. Best TV i have seen in over 10 years.

As with nealry everything in this show things have double or tripple meanings or outcomes.

I loved the bit where they found the 1000s of stacked reports that fly out the end of the chute.

Hurley needs to get some balls tho, I would have decked/shot him the minute he said he killed his bird.

As for "the others", lol... the plot thickens, cant wait to see season 3.

I want to know what happened to the "Black smoke creature thingys" The giant invisable "wtf thingy" that eats people.. and The chain "smokey" thing that nealry dragged whats his face underground........

I would deffinatley think that the scientists were loooking for magnetic anommilies rather than a homing device. How that pans out is anyones guess, but id say it was "Lost coincedence" that his -exbird was working /funding the research on the magnetic thingy...

I remember that black smoke thing. The writers have even probabilly forgotten aobut it, there are so many questions to be answered.
 
Isnt anyone else getting annoyed with this program aswell? I watch it every week, expecting last weeks cliffhanger questions to be answered, but only to be left at the end of the episode with more unanswered questions and yet another cliffhanger.
Is anything ever gonna get explained?
 
As long as it dosnt get cancalled and just ends, i'm happy for it to drag on as long as they can keep coming up with crazy ideas. THeres been nothing this bizzare since Twin Peaks.
 
Hahaha lol. I have a feeling we are going to get members that moan and say its crap purely because ALL the questions didn't get answered. What do you think they were going to do? You knew a Session 3 was coming.

Anyway I will look forward to the last series. When I find out about everything and there is no more lost.
 
Looks like the thread will die of death soon then because there's a confirmed 7 series yet!
 
I heard they were gonna be finishing it with a movie, but i guess that's not happening anymore.

Season 3 out in America next month :D Although there only showing 4-6 episodes then repeating til new year i think :mad:

Im assuming that post came about as a response to mine.
While you noticed my rant about the unanswered questions, you failed to notice the part where i said i watched it every week. If i thought it was crap then why would i watch it weekly?
I dont think its crap, its one of the best series to hit tv in a long time, i was merely picking up on its poor aspects. Afterall, this is a 'discussion' thread.

Sorry it wasn't aimed at anyone. Just I had my mates on MSN having a go at the show. Till I tell them they have a choice in watching it and they kind of shut up lol.

I like the way each series has one main plot but all the little plots build for the next big plot if you get what I mean. You have to give credit to the directors. They sure know how to make a story about people trapped on a island. Just wish it involved some females running around in bikinis. Ahh well you cant win em all.
 
Good ending I'd say. The last episode showcases how good Lost can be, its just a shame that there are periods when there are some awful episodes. Usually the ones between the beginning and end of the seasons :p

Also I don't know if I can put up with any more adverts. It was almost 10:15 before the episode started proper. I have refrained from illegally downloading Lost as I want to watch it with my family so we can wonder and debate, but the adverts are getting beyond a joke.
