***The Official MSI 5850 Twin FrozeR Thread***

My friend has the MSI ATI Radeon HD 5850 Twin FrozR II 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card but I can't find the power requirements for it as he's left the box at his.

His mobo died recently but when we put his card in a new motherboard we get 1 long system beep followed by 3 quick beebs and the computer will not load with this GPU in place, it's strange as it worked a little while earlier until we re-started.

I am wondering if the replacement board and card are using more power, it's an older board an Asus P5N-E SLi and a intel core2duo E6550 cpu, he is currently using either 500 to a 550w PSU. Any help here to figure the issue out would be great.

Hope not, like I said it had worked previously. Then it stopped after a restart, also it did the same beep code with an XFX 5750 and wouldn't load that the 1st few times I tried it, then bam it started up randomly.

I've just put a clean install of Windows 7 x64 Pro on my system. I was previously using Windows 7 x64 Home Premium but I had to move to PRO to allow me to use more than 16GB of ram.
I took advantage of the cheap ram prices to enable the use of a ramdisk in my PC.

I have 2x MSI 5850 Twin Frozr in my system which have been running fine at stock speeds on my Home Premium setup. I've been using MSI Afterburner to enable the use of fan profiles as the default setting of 54% is to loud for normal use and I use headphones when gaming.

My problem now is that the second card is not dropping down to idle speeds. Afterburner is reporting it running @ 725core, 1000mem and 54% fan speed.
Card 1 is 157core, 300mem & 25% fan speed.

Ultra Low Power State is enabled in the registry. If I disable Crossfire the second card drops to idle speeds but the fan stays @54%, which I think is the standard settings.
If I enable Crossfire the second card fan profile kicks in for about 10 seconds and the the card returns to 725core, 1000mem & 54% fan speed.

I'm using Cat's 11.8 but have tried 11.7 with same result. I was using 11.7 on my Home Premium setup ok.
I've tried MSI Afterburner 2.1.0 and now I'm using the 2.2.0 beta.

Any ideas on how to get the second card to idle and use a fan profile?
