Wonder what the background meetings where like when they realised sticking to EE was a huge mistake.
I have a feeling this would have been the Mobile of choice in chrimbo with all shops and some advertising pushing it, but they ballsed that up quite nicely.

I think its the lack of positive feedback that's cost EE and also the lack of pushing the sales. As you only need to look the lacklustre experiences some of the users in this thread have experienced.

This is a positive step, so its hopefully going to see a good push in 2013.

guys.... i got my red lumia 920 from clove last week/week before. I am on EE on a 4G plan. I went to london paddington today and guess what? No 4G! just 3G. Even from the speed selection setting on the mobile network settings where you switch on/off the internet... just 2G or 3G there.

any ideas?!

following on from the post above, I have read that the Belgium F/W works with 4G and also has the added advantage of the latest update. :D

i dont get why the firmware for unlocked phones would not include 4G. the whole point was that the phone is 4G and you should be able to get access to that without all this hassle. pretty stupid, and the clove website says nothing about restrictions either.

can anyone confirm if they have this unlocked firmware which supports 4G and how to flash it?

It's probably because of the T&C of the EE deal, so also why it maybe one of the reasons the update for the handset isn't available for the UK yet as it may enable 4G. However, that's just food for thought.

There are a few users on the WP Central forum that's flashed the firmware onto the device who use it on EE.

On the box by the barcode and all that does it say something along the lines of 'UK CV LTE Ready'? All devices sold in the UK have clear marks on the box as to whether they are are 'LTE Ready' or 'LTE Enabled', so this exact confusion doesn't occur.

Mine says '4G Ready'

Hi all,

Im almost back in the fold.
Im able to get a yellow 920 or a black one?

Could someone please let me know if the yellow is better? Is it too garish/cartoonish looking?

Any opinions welcome

Thanks

Yellow is my preferred colour, I have a white one at the moment until unlocked Yellow handsets are available and then i will switch.

Interesting... It looks like the update is on the Nokia servers for the UK handsets.

EDIT: Downloaded / Flashing / All done.

Whats the update do?

OS Updates:

Update 8.0.10211.204

Messaging improvements. A great messaging experience is now even better. You can now add multiple recipients at the same time when you send a text message and automatically save unsent text messages as drafts. You can even edit received text messages before you forward them.

Text replies to incoming calls. Can't take a call? Now you can send a prewritten text reply to a caller directly from the call answer screen. It's a nice way to let people know that you're not ignoring them.

Internet Explorer improvements. You can now change your settings to prevent pictures from downloading automatically—an easy way to help keep data usage low. You can also delete selected sites from your browsing history and leave the rest intact.

Wi-Fi connectivity. Got a favorite Wi-Fi network? Windows Phone 8 will now prioritize Wi-Fi connections based on your connection history.

Other improvements. Includes many other improvements to Windows Phone.

Nokia Updates:

Camera Improvements

Additional updates and enhancements

So that was a manual update?

My OTA check is saying I already have latest still (Clove unlocked)

Thanks

Yes, I used Nokia Care Suite for the process.

Then used the restore function in Windows Phone 8 to restore all my data & applications.

comparing Andy's firmware version to mine - looks like firmware is also updated. I wonder if this will now enable 4G on the unlocked devices.

thoughts andy?

I have been testing the camera and its a noticeable improvement. :D

I will fully test out tomorrow.

Also, so generic German one has 4G enabled as default, the UK one does not.
