Exactly, so what does it matter if you use the plug into a PC method over the OTA method, unless there is a difference in the two versions...

Yes but you are missing my point, why would they release two different versions.
Theres nothing wrong with updating your phone with the software, thats exactly what it is there for, OTA just means people can do it without needing to plug into a PC...

But that is the point, we simply do not know. What if they are different because the procedure for flashing OTA is different to being cabled in? I imagine the update process is slightly different.

If you flash a phone via a PC you wipe the phone. If you do OTA you keep all your stuff. Simple as that. Personally, unless you work for Nokia and you know all the tools that are needed to flash a phone then I'd just wait for the official OTA update. There are no differences between them other than that.

Ok, well when I update I always do a full reset first anyway, habit from the old android days.
As for tool I was thinking the MSU would do it?

Seems a bit silly... No offence. Not needed for WP. If anything, with WP you're better off doing a full reset AFTER a SWU. If needed at all.

I won't be providing any advice on how to flash your phones, sorry.

None taken, just a habit...

I wasnt suggesting that you would be telling us how to do it, too much hastle if it doesnt work lol
I'll wait until the OTA comes out and then reset afterwards as the SW hasnt picked up a new version yet..

While your here though, Wifi sniffer, I heard somewhere that something like that would never come to WP8 for security reasons, that true?

MS just released Bing News, it's damn good.

I'm really liking where M$ is going with Bing, definately move to it when Google shuts down iGoogle.

BUT ... Bing weather hasn't got the Lock Screen option like Weatherflow as far as I know.

I know people laugh at Bing but the apps are pretty good. They seriously need a Windows Phone version of Reading List.

Edit - Although I'm not sure whether its a Bing app or a Windows app come to think of it. They still need it though.

The double tap feature in the amber update, is really handy! Also the onscreen clock doesn't really use too much battery, so I am going to leave it on for now.
