Impressive especially when you consider the chip size and transistor count next to the GM204 and GM200 but not enough for me to upgrade especially *if* its a £500 card

That being said the grains in BF and the witcher 3 are great eps with the overclock. Seems temps are holding back the clocks and OCing (like the 980ti) so would love to see what a AIO does

This is pretty impressive at stock clocks but the overclocking headroom is not Maxwell impressive. At Tpu with a decent 980ti overclocked compared to the oc 1080 they are only getting around 12% more performance. It's not worth the cost to those who have decent cards.

I do think they need to stop using BF3 as a basis as i feel newer games might change the result.

For me the potential limited overclocking could be a good enough reason to hold fire as that reduces any gain I'd get compared to my 980ti running at 1450Mhz :(

looking at the numbers or am i missing anything here? so an over-clocked 980 ti is all-most on par

the number for the non oc 980 ti are the same in the 1080 review

but the oc on the g1 well ?

I think it's what most of us thought. the clocks are just about maxed. The Maxwell cards have much more headroom so when comparing stock v stock it looks good but when you overclock the maxwell cards it's not impressive at all.

So ~30% faster than stock 980Ti, doesn't overclock as well as rumoured (2.5GHz lolololol). 2.0-2.1GHz OC equates to ~5%-15% extra performance depending on game. This is actually worse than I excpected but still overall some decent gains over 980Ti.

But not worth £620 IMHO.

Also WTF hardOCP, why only 1440p benchmarks, talk about pointless. Anytime I see [H] do the 1440p only benchmarks I think "paid off".
