** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

I need some advice, been lurking this thread for a while, anxiously waiting for some reviews etc..

I've been running a EVGA 770 4GB for roughly 3 years now I think, I'm definitely due for an upgrade and I'm stupid enough to spend the premium on the 1080, but the question is, should I?

I'm mostly seeing bitching about how performance isn't that much greater than a 980ti or a TitanX, but looking at it from my perspective, I dunno, what do you guys think?

The kitguru video is not a stabilised temp as you can see it gradually moves upto 62C when the video is abruptly cut off. If they were honest they would have shown the temp after the benchmark had been running for at least 10 mins. They are so deep in Nvidia's pockets that they try and pull the wool over people eyes.

Yeah i called them out on that video and referred to other tech sites results and now the video cannot be commented on.. guess they showed their hand.. darn shills.

the truth is here and the 1080 doesnt look that impressive any longer for the money they want.. those who wanted to upgrade from 970/980 or before better crap a 980ti 2nd hand while supply last seems like a better deal imho..
Or maybe just wait like a few weeks and not buy a Founder's Edition?

Yeh first impressions - wow this looks good....

Then compare to an overclock that ALL 980ti can do easily... which is about 1400mhz, you can do that on a reference card no problems and no risk at all as it does that on default voltage etc.

That is an 18% overclock...

1860 > 2050mhz is a 10% overclock...

To keep that big lead it has in the reviews at stock.... it really needs to easily overclock by 18% like all 980ti will do... Which would be 2170mhz....

So comparing to a 980ti you can knock 8% off the results.

If you have a massively OC 980ti at 1500mhz, then the 1080 is not very impressive compared to that.

I was hoping the rumors of gigabyte G1 2.4Ghz might be true.

But if you are one of these people with a 980ti or Titan X at 1500mhz, then its not a big upgrade.

Running my TX on hybrid @ 1500mhz, seems the 1080 @ 2000mhz won't be much quicker? :confused::confused:

Correct.

Pricing on the founders edition is silly when converted to the £

They'll probably still sell well though but <£500 would have been nice.

I'll be waiting for the Titan/1080ti although who knows how much a Titan will be this time around. North of £1000 could well be possible if they bring compute functions back.

I would wait for the launch tax to go and for prices to die down I you are adament on a Pascal part.

Is this just me right now or??? :(

The pricing is down to the fact AMD suck so much lately, and Nvidia dominate the market, if AMD had a larger share you would be seeing more competitive pricing, however as Nvidia have pretty much free reign, they can charge what you like, and a lot of people here will still lap them up, and Nvidia knows this, next gen the prices will creep up further.

Think on this a moment, if the 1080 is say £620, how much will the 1080ti cost? and the new Titan cost? how much better will they be for that price?

And people wish AMD Were dead and buried? LOL, well this is a taste of what your wishes will get you people, better get used to it :)

I'd be lying if i said i wasnt tempted to pay the price for a 1080, i really am tempted, but i am also rational enough to wait to see AMD play their hand then make a decision.

As i thought not as impressive as the hype was suggesting. If you have a ti it's pretty much a pointless upgrade, that being said this card is replacing the 980, not the 980ti so for users coming from a 980 they're getting much more more performance for their cash.
