** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

Guys, the price is mental and anyone buying the FE knows they are paying a massive premium. I would hope those buying that will also be ripping off that transformer looking shroud and popping it under water.

Prices will settle but the typical price gouging is happening that we see with every generation of new cards is happening. Frankly I am more shocked that older forum members are shocked.

Unless partners release their cards within the next 5-10 days, then I will be buying 3 FE cards as the blocks I want (Bitspower) are going to take 2 weeks before release.

I don't particularly want to pay over the odds for the transformer scrotum as I am ripping it off almost immediately (once tested) but I don't want to wait more than 2 weeks to get these puppies in...

Cheers
Ben

I'm struggling to find what's more annoying about this post, the fact you're openly being bum buckled by nVidia or the fact you sign every post off :p

Actually that depends, if sales match the hype of this card prices will remain high.

a) Not exactly, but it's hardly goign to be a long wait.
b) Not exactly, but we do know the MSRP and have a history of GPU sales to lean on
c) Again, not exactly, but I've never seen a case where they dont match or beat reference cards.

Do what you need to do, but you're shelling out a premium for what is in all likelihood going to be a worse performing card in some way.

If you're doing SLI then whatever, but if you are, you're probably not terribly concerned with getting best value in your purchases in the first place!

So that's a) no idea b) no idea and c) no idea - which is exactly my point. The past does not dictate the future - we all learned that today.

I know they are costly and overpriced, and I am ok with that as long as the "worse performing card in some way statement" is not true... That is something I want to avoid.
Is it really likely to be a worse performing card under water and OC'd? If its likely the answer to that is yes, then I too will wait!

Cheers :)

price is pretty much where I expected it to be, seemed pretty obvious if the 1080 is faster than a 980ti then it will be more expensive

PS4.5 might.
I'd be surprised if it did. Costs are always a priority for console hardware. GDDR5X would not only cost more on its own, but it'd also require a new memory controller.

I think at most they'll overclock the current memory some. It's not really an area the consoles are lacking anyways.
