Upload everything to cloud then swap out?

cloud uploads are automatic anyway if you have it setup correctly. this isn't a big deal and doesn't solve anything, what you can actually save to the cloud are tiny data files like 11MB each you can also save them to USB alternatively if you don't have plus and therefore you don't need to download them after swapping drives.

after swapping out drives it took 2 days to download all my digital games and all the updates and DLC's, etc, never mind having to download saved data on top.

the system software is really basic atm and i hope they put the backup option back in there, would make it a lot easier and quicker for people without high speed broadband.

That's still pretty manual though. MS did this right with their transfer kit.

Their transfer kit was a farce, could hardly get it for a start.

The ps3 done it right, but only if you want to move to a completely new ps3, all you needed was an Ethernet cable, was easy when I got a slim.

When I moved to an xbox elite I ended up digging out an old memory card I had laying around and moved a few saves and abandoned the rest.

I must have been lucky then. I just called them up the day they were released and they sent me one.

Even then, you buy an elite have to wait days before you can get your stuff transferred onto it. I seem to remember a big thread on here to of people trying to pass them around because they were such a PITA to get a hold of.

I don't know why the xbox didn't do it like the ps3 and just plug an Ethernet cable between the consoles.

I wouldn't have been able to transfer from a 20GB to a 120GB drive if I needed 2 consoles and an ethernet connection.

you don't all you need is 1 console and a external USB HDD and use the backup function.

then swap out the drives and load the backup from the USB HDD.

although this currently isn't available for PS4, PS3 only. hopefully it shall be available soon.

Mine has its moments as well. It's better if the TV is already on. I would test it on another TV and see if it's better.

I swapped HDMI cable out and if anything its now got worst. PS4 turns on fine and white light is on so system is all good. Just black screen on the TV. It took like 5minutes before. Somethings not right.

Ive tried knocking the resolution to 1080 in the ps4 settings instead of 'auto' incase this is what is holding it up (testing various resolutions at startup maybe) and no luck. Looks like my system has something wrong with it. Will give costco a call Monday and see if they can help me out.

Just get it replaced at Costco, theyll swap it out with no qualms. Sounds like something is dodgy. Have you tried it on another TV just to ensure it is the PS4 just to cover yourself?

Its being used on this tv though mate so it needs to work or i want a refund. Cant really afford to replace tv.

Hopefully costco can just swap out the system as i bought it as part of a bundle and have now sold the games.

If the problem lies with the TV then it's your fault not the retailers or manufacturers.

I would also buy a new half decent HDMI cable the cheap £1 ones have a tendency to fail and cause corruption, etc if bent.

It's important to have one that's been made well and that you don't bend them and keep them as straight as possible.

By half decent I mean one that costs £3-5 not £100, I buy the German made ones off Amazon and they are brilliant.

So i tried in different TV and it worked flawlessly. I didn't even know there was a Playstation Logo and epilepsy warning on startup as it usualy takes around 2-5min to turn on and opens at the new XMB.

Looks like I've ruled out the PS4 and cable then and it is fact the TV... nightmare! Is there a fix for this guys?

Try a different HDMI socket on the back of your TV, one that says PC/Game or something along those lines, would be preferred. Whats the model of your TV, it could just not play ball with the PS4, its not unknown on older TVs...

Is the PS4 fully patched up? There were a few HDMI handshake issues at launch with various TVs (mainly Bravias) but that got fixed either through PS4 updates or TV firmware.

It's an old Toshiba, only has 2 HDMI ports and tried both, same issue. I guess it works... eventually. Just a nightmare having to wait for it to startup.

Best thing to really do is look at buying a new TV at some point, get a decent deal on Amazon for televisions. Seen a Samsung 42" 1080p for around £400 the other day.
