I don't think I could ever go digital with consoles, you miss out on being able to swap games with friends and family.

Quite the jam :D

Highly doubtful going by PS3 and PS4. They stick to standard TV resolutions - 720p, 1080p, 2160p. You might end up only getting 1080p if you connect to a 1440p display with HDMI.
Argh.. this might in the end stop me from getting a PS5.

My next screen upgrade will 99% certain be 1440p (140FPS - should be a nice upgrade from 1080p/60).

In that case - and given that virtually all the PS5 exclusives are "time limited exclusives" - it might be a better idea to just upgrade the PC.

Just reading up.. the unreal demo recently shown off was running at 1440p, 30fps on the ps5. So maybe it will support monitors with such resolutions ? I’d wait and see? I wouldn’t get my hopes up though :p

Pretty sure only 1 1st party PS4 game is coming to PC, Horizon Zero Dawn (good way to advertise the sequel) Death Stranding and Quantic dreams games are third party games in all honesty.

It's quite insane how popular the Playstation brand is compared to its competition, I just checked the Xbox reveal number on YouTube and it's sitting at 12M views after 6 months. Playstation after 4 days is at 23M.
The pull that the Playstation brand has worldwide just dwarfs the Xbox.
Whilst the PlayStation is undoubtedly far more popular, its worth bearing in mind that m$ have been remarkably open in releasing details about XsX, which means all their reveals probably aren't as anticipated...... In fact, there's been very little that's unknown about the m$ hardware for some time, whereas virtually nothing was known about Ps5 until last week .

Anybody buying both consoles or just sticking with one?
I'll be getting both - m$ are great for improving old games under backwards compatibility and I love Halo, so there'll be plenty to play from day 1...........whereas have a huge backlog of PS4 games to catch up on, so am curious to see whaSony come u[ with on that angle.

Today, I'm up for getting both with (presumably) PS5 just for its exclusives and XSX for everything else but it will all depend on YouTube comparison videos to see which multi-platform games perform best on which console. I am moving more towards the idea of getting both consoles to do the "heavy lifting" for gaming and a cheap-ish laptop to pick up the odd exclusive here and there, like the truck simulator games.

If you're referring to the games from the showcase labelled as "timed exclusives", I believe most (if not all) will be launching on PS5 and PC simultaneously (though in some cases, the PC version may be slightly later - not unusual). The "timed" bit refers to other consoles (Series X, Stadia, Switch).

Earlier on in the thread I said it would take a lot for me to get the XSX as well as the PS5, but I'm leaning towards the XSX to play Flight Simulator (which I believe is coming out on it too)

I can't justify spending a ton of money on a new GPU to play it (Currently have i7 9700k, 16gb Ram & 980ti), plus the thought of playing it on my 65" tv is too good to miss!

But again, it comes down to price of each console and whether my current setup can handle the game, I don't have access to the alpha so can't test it :(

definitely ps5 for me. I have a large library of (mainly uncompleted!) ps4 digital games though so providing BC is confirmed, it's the obvious choice.

I'd be tempted by the XB1SX down the line if i had money burning a hole in my pocket and if their game pass option was still as good a deal as now.

Xbox for me to start with, game pass is just such amazing value. Also fingers crossed for a awesome fable reveal come July. Be interesting to see what all the studios come out with in the July event, should be a few decent exclusives and multiplat games should be best on the Xbox.
Still hate that Xbox UI and kinda hope they slim it down a tad. PS5 digital a few months down the line although kinda tempted to go full fat to replace my UHD player.... trouble being I would need to relocate things as that huge ass PS5 ain’t fitting in the shelf I use for the UHD player

Just one, likely the XBSX. Despite enjoying some of the exclusives on PS, I still have a ps4 pro so hopefully some will still be ok for that, I believe some will be ps5 exclusive though, but Im not to bothered, I find it easier to skip games now days, not even that bothered about the TLOU2, might get it at a later date.

I like game pass, think thats a fantastic service. I generally only buy new games if its something I have been particularly looking forward to.

Might get the PS5 at a much later date, by then they might also have a black version.

Yer, no - virtually all the PS5 exclusives are "time limited exclusives", this is very much not going to be the case.
Microsoft already shoot themselves in the foot be releasing their exclusives on the PC, Sony are not going to see a chunk of their player base move across also - PS has always been about the games and that is not going to suddenly change.
