My issue with getting the PS5 at launch is the lack of a 'console seller'.

Yeah, one thing which does worry me about the PS5 launch is what games will be available?

In fact that was the main reason I bought both at launch last time as whilst I wanted the PS4 more with Forza Motorsport being an Xbox launch title it meant I spent way me time on my Xbox for the first 6 months. This started to change after that with me switching to PS4 for pretty much every multiplatform title.

In fact for the first month in Playstation Resogun was about the only title I played on the system :D I had killzone Shadowfall as well but I found it pretty dull.

We can be pretty sure that Microsoft will have Halo infinity at launch and possibly another Forza title in short order. It's not quite clear what Sony will have in response to that?

The thing with the Xbox though is that it's the same in price as an equivalent GPU from nVidia - if we are talking about 2070 super levels. And the Xbox is an entire system. You'll get a ready made library of games with Game Pass so it just seems like a no-brainer to me, especially if your PC is not rocking a 2080Ti already. :p

Do you have an Xbox One X?

No, I never bothered as I barely used my OG Xbone and gave it away. This was back in the day when there was no BC, no Game Pass, etc. It would get a lot more loving nowadays (more than my PS4, I suspect) if I had kept it.

Playing through Last Of Us 2 on PS4 Pro, giving me high hopes about the quality of games the devs will be able to push on PS5.

Think PC + PS5 (And switch) is the way forward.

Cant believe what im about to say as a pc master race but i think with the likes of last of us 2 and ps5 games i think they have beaten anything pc games can throw at them. Its just down to pc developers not spending the money to make the stunning games for them as the money aint there.

It's common knowledge that developers cater to the lowest common denominator, which is the console market. Raw performance isn't the be-all!

Think I’ve made my mind up to get a PS5.

A 3080Ti will cost me around £1300 (maybe more), plus if I wanted to play in 4K (anything less would be pointless), I would need to upgrade my monitor. A decent 27inch 4K monitor is still around £800, so that would be nearly £2.5k!

In my room, I also have a TV setup of a 55 inch upper range HDR1500 Samsung QLED (Q85R), with a great Samsung soundbar Atmos system.

So £2500 for maximum 4K on a 27 inch screen or £500 on 55 inch 4K gaming with much better HDR, but slightly lower settings and FPS.

I think it makes sense to stick with my current card and 1440p gaming, and get a PS5 for 55 inch 4K gaming.

That is the same conclusion I have come to.

I have a GTX 1080, Ryzen 3600 on a B450 motherboard and am running a 1440p, 144hz screen.

To simply achieve performance parity with a PS5 or XSX and I will need a GPU with RTX 2080 power, a new motherboard and 8 core cpu (which I only bought last year!), a new gamepad (because the new consoles come with one) and a fast NVME SSD. That is going to cost me £700 to upgrade even after selling my GPU, CPU and motherboard.

What is the point of spending all that money just to end up with the same as I could have if I bought a console?

I'll probably buy a XSX and keep that for a couple of years until spending £700 on PC hardware get's you a system that is much faster than a console.

Try playing The Division 2 on the controller for a console with 30fps. No thanks. It's awful as you get rushers let alone trying to do headshots. Let alone fast 180s as they rush you from behind.

The inclusion of motion sensors gives the DualSense a massive advantage, since gyro-aiming is objectively superior, and is closer to a mouse in terms of precision.
The fact Sony demonstrated it speaks volumes. The Nintendo Switch has popularised the feature, it's often requested in most titles. It worked beautifully in Days Gone and Dreams on the PS4 also.

If you think it's a gimmick, I urge you to watch the following:

Yeah it certainly isn't a gimmick. I avoided it at first on the Switch but realised quite early on that playing FPS games in handheld is hard! I think it was Resident Evil Revelations that I turned it on and oh my my accuracy went through the roof. Since then I've always turned it on if the game supports it. With out it it is just too slow to center your aim.

Demonstrated it with what? I thought the motion sensors were just a compatibility inclusion for the SIXAXIS feature? It's barely used in any games.

Demand for gyro-aiming support has become increasingly prevelant in the PlayStation community, and it's no small surprise that Sony acknowledged motion sensors in the DualSense trailer. I agree that it was sorely underused during the last generation, but that's liable to change.

But why call it motion sensors and not gyro aiming? It just sounds like "shake the controller" to perform such-and-such all over again. I'm interested to try it out for myself. If Days Gone is the only title, then I haven't got round to buying that yet.

I strongly suggest you watch the following:

Yeah I don't always sit bolt up right when console gaming like I do on the pc, and certainly not standing up.
As long as there is an option for both I'm happy.

Gyro still feels like a serious handicap over mouse, there's just no comparison. It's a nice boon for SP titles but I always find it funny when zealous fans are more rabid about the feature than Sony themselves who even for first party studios basically don't give a single flying f in implementing it across the board.

Here's what it takes to actually use gyro in a Sony FP title that could really use it: https://youtu.be/x827ea91fpA

Meanwhile, you're gonna have native support on steam with the steam controller before PS4 does, and have even better aiming to boot.

It's just the sad reality of being at the mercy of platform holders.
