Lost many hours of Generation Zero to corrupted saves; sadly for me, both local and cloud were damaged, and the game stupidly only seems to keep a single save. Console was always left in rest mode, no powercuts etc, so it was a head scratcher - I could be ****** to restart the game again after that nonsense

My external USB SSD became corrupt today for no reason. Once reformatted it’s working fine again and checks out fine on my Pc so looks like it was something with the PS5.

It's because you dont turn your console off properly or use rest mode for too long
The only improper way of turning your PS5 off is by flipping the switch at the wall. I note that you dont actually have a PS5 so you're clearly not talking from experience. Got a link for that issue ?

I have two years of essential stacked, I can't even trial the new tiers without upgrading the entire stacked amount.

They've essentially looked at all the gamers with stacked essential and said 'enjoy gamepass'. Loved the coincidental timing of the XBox showcase.

Eh? There's nothing to say rest mode is meant to be time limited.

Mine is in rest mode all the time when I'm not using it.

Yep same, there were some issues with resuming from Rest Mode with external storage attached in the first few months after release, but they've long since been resolved.

I'm only telling the person with issues with his external to stop using reset mode.

Could you please link/show where in any of Sony's documentation, digital or physical, where it states rest mode should not be used if using a USB SSD? Wouldn't it be disabled automatically if it detects this if that was the case, the device ID be on a blacklist?
