****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Quick question, I have an in car charger for my HTC Desire. Will this work with the Galaxy S II?

Yes

I turn data on and off via holding the power button in for a second - might do the same thing, just a little quicker.

Not the same thing im afraid what that does is turn of the "packet data" which will turn off your mobile internet but will stop you from sending and recieving MMS. MMS is not the same as sms be advised:confused:

I downloaded a game called Contract Killer wow that game took my battery out so i uninstalled the game. I went from 67% to 12% battery in a few minutes.

Took phone off charge this morning at 7am, wi-fi / bluetooth / sync / push all permanently on. Made & received numerous calls, texts, e-mails, browsing and general messing about on it for the day....... 65% charge when I've just plugged it in.

My old HTC desire would have packed up around 2 hours ago, this thing is insane.

Charging now made 22 hours on the last charge.

You see this is what I want to hear, as I've been following this thread and a lot of the posts are related to poor battery performance and apps seemingly running and killing the battery for no reason.

What ROM version you two running?

Well im a bit boring i am yet to grow a pair and flash my phone. Im on the stock firmware.

Mine gets rather warm but I keep mine in my pants all day anyway and my Desire got warm too under pressure as did the HTC Magic so I didn't really think much of it :p

Hmmm not sure how to take this Khaaan because you didn't say trousers you said "pants" so im a bit worried about you now:p

Just got my S2 today! Wow its bigger than i thought, makes my San Fran look small:/

First thing, i plugged it in (turned off) to charge it up. The screen lights up with a battery icon in the middle, but ater about 20 seconds this dissapears and no other lights are on to let me know it is actually charging as opposed to being sat there and not charging.

Is this normal? Usually phones have some indictaor even when switched off that it is infact charging?

Also, the backplate.. flimsy?! Is there a market here for aluminium aftermarket back plates?

Press the middle button to see charge status, why worry about the back if its connected to the phone?

Thanks Khaaan I may just wait till its all legit and part of the Android system. I bet Vodafone is just itching to charge me for a video call, i'll use it on wi-fi only so stuff them.

I am currently on holiday in turkey and got my s2 a few days before departure. i would just like to say a few observations that i have come across.

Being a long term windows mobile user then moving to iphone 4 for 12 months just to give it a whirl. then getting bored of ios and switching to android with a galaxy s2 i am having mixed feelings about my experience so far.

first of all i want to say that the screen in sunlight is so bad i am seriously considering ditching just because of that, i was out this afternoon and the phone was completely unusable. the worst i have ever seen. i nearly fed it to the fish. completely opposite in normal light. the screen is a joy. such a shame it is so bad in the sun.

other quick giggles. and i know there are other apps to try but bare in mind i am abroad and have limited wifi access.

Music player is a dissapointment.
Stock mail is total fubar. not even a read all messages option! Come on!
Touch wiz is too limited. using launcher pro which is good but not perfect.
Keyboard is ok but annoying in the same ways the iphone keyboard is.
landscape keyboard is way too big. takes up Most of a webpage!
Screen res is ok. not great. blacks make up for it as you all know.
no text runaround when zooming which can be a pain.
Lock screens are crap.

Its not all bad.

battery is good and getting better after more discharges and charges.
customization i like but takes ages to get stuff how i like.
camera ok so far.
Speed is good but not the shockingly fast i expected.

there is more pros and cons but overall so far i can't decide if i hav

e made a mistake or not?

I am a fan of HTC in general and part of me wishes i had waited for the sensation. Another part of me wishes i had stuck with the iphone. and the other says stick with samsung. Main bug for me is screen in sunlight. major problem. gggggrrrrr. rant over. hehe

All those things you mentioned can be adjusted or even changed you can change the screen setting etc. When you get back down load some new apps as well to suit your requirements.
