****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Seems exactly the same to me, just more bloat apps. I'm on holiday at the moment and I've been using the camera constantly. It kept freezing on hydrogenics but the stock touchwiz camera has been great.

Good to hear - I'm on the stock LP7 rom - just rooted and themed - Good enough for me.

Just about to do the same before I get rid of it for the S3.

Battery been dire recently, was in mexico last week and it was only lasting 8 hrs with no 3g or wifi active, something is sucking it.

Dont think it was charging properly with the voltage in the room either

Any chance somebody could give me a quick walkthrough of what I need to do to change roms? I'm currently running a rooted phone on stock ICS, and want to start trying a few different roms out. I've got Mobile ODIN on the phone, but have not got CWM installed. Last time I did this, I ended up flashing the Gingerbread kernel and the ICS firmware, so a short step-by-step would be much appreciated - not sure I trust myself again!

If you've got it rooted already that makes it a lot easier.

Edit: Backing up your stuff is probably a good idea! Do it however you want, Titanium back (Stored on the phone) or Samsung Kies (considering you're running stock)

1. Download the ROM you want. Best place to look for them is XDA, choose what you want and download it on your phone, or onto your PC and then transfer it to your phones storage.

2. Make sure you download any additional patches or packages required, note: some do require extras!

3. Turn your phone off

4. Start up in Recovery Mode (Volume Up + Home + Power at the same time until GSII logo)

5. Do a "Wipe Data / Factory Reset".

6. Go to Advanced > "Wipe Dalvik".

7. Go back to the main menu, Mounts and Storage > "Format System".

8. Go back to the main menu > Install Zip From SD Card.

9. Then select "From Internal" or "From SD Card", depending on where you put, then go through the folders till you find it. Install the ROM's zip file.

10. Repeat step 9 for any patches or additional packages.

11. Go back to the main menu, "Reboot System Now".

Haha, to be honest, I'm not sure, I always do it just to be sure as I didn't wipe once before and all the carp programs I installed on the previous ROM were there but most of them didn't work.

I suppose if you're going from stock ICS to another ICS ROM there shouldn't be a problem in missing out steps 5-7 from my instructions. Unless I'm updating, I wipe, just easier.

I'd always do a wipe, doesn't take long to restore settings and accounts anyway.

Really impressed with Hydro so far, only grip is the screen brightness is a bit slow to adjust to changes in light.

Ace, thanks. I thought I needed CWM installed before I could flash a new rom.

About a week on Wanamlite now. Amazed with battery life, went 3 days between charges for the first time ever over the weekend (extended battery).

Not sure whether to update to 11.7 or not. Really happy with things.

Incidentally, I'm after a rom which will give me straight up ICS (no TouchWiz), stable, and reasonable battery life. Don't need it lightning quick or overclocked. I have been using Apex launcher, but found it quite unstable, so am after a stock ICS rom. Any suggestions?

So has anyone got one working on their SII yet? I have one, tried formatting it via the phone but it keeps coming up with 'blank memory card' then doesn't show up in any file managers. I'm sure other cards I've put in haven't said this.

This has been the same on two different 64gb cards. I also tried to format it via a PC to Fat32. My phone just seemed to freeze up on booting. No luck there either.

Any ideas?

*edit* I want to sort this out on my SII now the SIII is delayed :(
