****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

I used go for a over a year on my sgs/sgs2 and loved it but apex won me over, I'd say it's the better choice.

Oh and paranoid android rom is frickin awesomeness on a stick! Thanks to whoever mentioned it on here.

I liked apex a lot, as it was on a rom I flashed as one it's included launchers (along with trebuchet or whatever it's called....)

I set it up just as I liked it, and all was fine and dandy...untill I flashed another rom. I'd backed up the layout and settings to my SD card, and downloaded & installed Apex on my new ROM as it wasn't already included, but when I went to restore the settings etc....it didn't work, it just stayed as stock layout!

I've used Go Launcher for a year or so and that restores all my icons and folders on each screen to exactly the same state they were before I'd flashed the new rom.

As I flash roms regularly, the backup facility is a must for me to get back up and running within minutes to how I like my screens and desktop folders set up!! :(

Upgraded to ICS a few days ago and have decided the built in web browser has gone from being useful and decent to completely rubbish. Any decent replacements? Opera mini?

Model of router? It's not uncommon for networking devices to not play ball with different brands that don't work well together I guess.

Guys, i upgraded my g/f s2 to ics through kies when it became available and ever since then her apps have been crashing into blanks screens and her battery life has been halved.

Was told to do a factory reset to sort out the issues so just backed up her photos and did the reset.....now she has no swype? If i go to app settings input n language swype is there and i can tick it. But in the message boxes if i long press i dont get any input method selector so i cannot put swype back on.

So i got myself into **** by updating her phone when she didnt really care about the update, now trying to fix the issues i have dug further. Anyone had similar issues and know how to fix it?

you want swype back?

the ICS update removes swype afaik - just sign up to the swype beta to get the latest version. It's much better than the old one.

Guys, since I updated to ICS 4.0.3 via KIES I got Wi-Fi connection problems!

It was always stable connection to my house router or my friends/ work wi-fi routers.
Now, It connects to my router but it does random restarts: first it disconnects from router and connects (automatically most of the time) in 5-20sec.

any ideas how to fix it?

Thank you.

On the off chance, you haven't got the sky cloud wi-fi app installed have you? That caused mine all sorts problems with my home wi-fi, uninstalled it and all is fine again.

Nope doesnt let me put beta on as it has 'production' or wateva swype included on the rom. Thats why its greyed out apparently. Cannot uninstall, but doesnt work.

Long press on any text field in any app doesnt bring up an input option, and now her other programs are crashing again ffs. Thought had at least fixed that. I assume it was just a reset through 'about phone' i was meant to do or is there a more robust one using kies etc?

Seriously, this ics update has been beyond ****e, not noticed any speed increase, all it seems to have done in break her apps and swype lol :<

as soon as the keyboard popS up anywhere there is a keyboad icon in the status bar - change keyboard there.

My ICS update removed Swype from my ROM.

I kinda regret selling mine now, it is a awesome phone.

I borrowed an S3 for the night and really there wasn't much difference in performance between it and an S2 - though it was definitely smoother and a little faster.

The 720p screen wasn't all that much different either tbh - I would only notice the benefit maybe 20% of the time. The size if the S2 actually felt nice after playing with the S3. The biggest improvement of the S3 I found was the battery-life - seemed great - could muster 4hrs screen on time easy in general use I think.

Will most probably upgrade to one come September - but it not worth me buying outright early for £500. Want the black.
