***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Has black actually been confirmed or even hinted at or are we all just hoping (in some cases, praying :p) that Samsung will release a black version?

Surely if they were going to release a black version, they would have released it along with the white version instead of the "pebble blue".....

They should do a yellow version, the new button layout looks like....

Here's the thing if a few million people world wide want a black phone and Sammy have a few million phone innards they can make a billion quid just by changing the polycarbonate colouring process to black, easiest billion anyone ever made, I reckon they'll do it after creatively manipulating the market's desire

Is GTA 3 worth getting?

Also does android still have that feature where you get a refund if you uninstall a paid app under couple of minutes?

People think there will be a black version, it's hope more than anything else though.

I've been waiting for some pics with a confirmed white balance set, ta, I know I'm holding out for black or better, easily done now my Note is ICS and rooted but the white is growing on me and looks better all the time.

If black doesn't come and I still want an S3 I think I'll get white.

No problem, you can clearly see the home button is still blue/purple compared to the rest of the phone but as mentioned, in florescent lighting, the phone itself does look dark blue but the brushed effect looks really nice under the "glaze" coating.

In a few of the pics it takes on a steely sorta battleship grey hue which I quite like, not liking the button colour variation on the blue though and I now think the white will accessorise better but that whole issue is totally subjective.

Orange Peel texture :D It's also running GoLauncher, which is super smooth on the S3. Not that it isn't on the S2 though!

Well it is £45 more than what I'm paying at the moment... in two minds about it really :o

True! If you really want the phone £45 isn't too much to pay as opposed to £599 that P4U are charging. Have Mobilefun confirmed that they now have stock?

You should go for it if they do, even go through Quidco or Topcashback to get some money back :)

:D

That will be the GS 4! :p

A purple phone you say?

We'll be looking fabulous. ;)

Just need matching handbags now! :D

Sorry, I mean man bags! :p

Doesn't quite work like that :p

The problem is the majority of people (average joes) will not care about the colour as much as what some of us here do and therefore will either just pick the blue/purple/black (whatever colour it is :p) or the white model and that will be it and if they don't, they will simply go with another brand of phone like the grey HTC one X or black one S etc. instead and chances are that when/if Samsung release a proper black model, these people won't go and buy the new black model when they already have a white/blue or a different handset solely because of the colour. Also a lot of people use cases on their phones nowadays, therefore the colour isn't as much of an issue then.

Don't forget we only make up a very small % of the population that really do care about all these things like colour, design, hardware etc. when compared to the general public.

Even if I had the blue or white GS 3 now and Samsung did release a black version, I wouldn't even consider changing what I had just because of the colour despite loving the colour black for tech devices etc.

Plus the majority of people I imagine will be taking new phones out on contract and therefore will be pretty much stuck on whatever phone/colour of GS 3 they went for, for the next 18/24 months, unless they plan on buying out their contract and taking a new one out for a black GS 3, unlocking their current one and selling it on the auction site and then buying the black GS 3 outright etc.

Heck they won't even know about the possibility of a black version in the future as nothing has been confirmed at all, there aren't even any rumours being reported by the android sites afaik.

If Samsung do actually have any intentions of releasing a black model in the future, then it was stupid of them to not have have released it with just the white model, instead of possibly 2-5 months (maybe even more) down the line after the main release date, by which time new and better phones will be out anyway i.e. the nexus phones etc. and the general interest in the GS 3 will have died down by then as well.

That is how I look at it anyway :p Hope I am wrong though!

Bored of my iphone 4s, going to the Orange store at the weekend to see about an early upgrade, they have this scheme thing to upgrade every 6 months or something. Did it with my Torch (I think it was 6 months ago now) lol

Which custom ROMs are people using?

I'm currently using Omega v4 and it has been pretty good so far. Removes bloatware, camera mod, battery status and a few other things. Just wondering if there is a better one people would recommend or keep an eye out for. :)
