***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

I know there is probably a lot of info in here but not got time to go through 400+ pages

looking for a case for my S3, simple, without adding bulk but with proper screen protection (not a shell with open screen)

bought one of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAMSUNG-G...lePhonesCasesPouches&var=&hash=item4abc7c740e

was just what I wanted, replaced the back so no bulk, covered screen and looked smart, problem is it is knackered after 3 weeks (bad for official product) and it appears this is about normal

so what can folks recommend me ?

Thanks

I hate using phone with bulk also.

I ended up buying a fitBAG direct form the German store.

It's not a 'case' but having used a pouch/bag on my HD2 for years without a single scratch or piece of damage I thought it viable for my SIII also. As of yet no damage/scratching at all.

my missus uses a pouch with her phone but I am a bugger for dropping them duting use at work so probably not for me

I can get hold of a locked phone on the Three network, how easy are these to unlock?

Sorry if this has been asked numerous times :)
Very easy! There are numerous apps on the play store to easily unlock the s3. I think you may have to be rooted, I'm not sure if you're familar with rooting, but that is also very simple.

Sgs3 is being a pain in the ass guys.
I installed cdroid the other day with no problem.
However last night i lost connection to the internet through my network then realized its completely disconnected from network so no calls texts etc. I use pay as you go with 3 network i usually pay £20 for unlimited interwebs, texts etc.And topped up last week.

Service state says out of service
Mobile network state says disconnected.
When i scan network and try to connect to 3 it says "your sim does not allow a connection to this network"

I have removed sim and battery and cleaned them etc.
I have checked 3 coverage in the area i have restored phone to old rom just in case it was cfdrioid which i don't think it is.
I don't have another micro sim or phone to check to see if they work.

Anybody have any ideas? I've ran out and getting pretty frustrated.

I'd try backing up your current rom, then doing a complete wipe and reflash. Just to work out if it's the rom or your network :)

I've been using WanamLite for ages and now thinking of trying a few other ROMs. crDroid a good option, or shall I go for null?

Depends what you want, crDroid has so many installation options. null is fairly cut down with less choice (JBDom, aosp apps etc).

I sent my phone back to Samsung last Thursday as it had started freezing regularly, constantly needing reset. Any one have experience of how quick they turn around repairs? I am having withdrawal already! :)

Been running wanamlite 5.5 for a while now, been noticing it has slowed my phone down quite considerably :(

Looking at putting crdroid on it, whats the best kernel with the best power to snappiness ratio for it?

Cheers

I had the same issue with Wanamlite 5.5 as well, I put crDroid on this morning. It's very quick but the problem I have is that notifications don't work properly for me. Facebook Messenger and Facebook in particular. I've used Titanium Backup to delete all data associated with those apps and re-signed in but to no avail. I'm going to try null now and see if that's any good

My s3 has been freezing regularly too, going to try a factory reset later this week, just out of interest did you try a factory reset first?

i think that is more down to the app than the rom. The old FB app used to be quick with the notifications until they gave it a huge update.
