***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Back on crDroid now. Was using null_22.1 but for some reason my phone turned itself off a few times overnight meaning I missed my alarm :o

Not sure what it was, anyone else had it?

Should I be worried about fast dormancy eating all my battery? Yesterday secril_fd-interface and l2_hsic were at around 35 minutes, can't remember what % but I've just unplugged my phone and will try to use it as little as I can today and see what it's like later on tonight. But that seems a bit high from what I've read around, I'm on Three by the way.

I'm on Vodafone and I turned fast dormancy off, but to be honest I saw no difference in battery life. Not even sure if Vodafone have it enabled in my area!

Right I'm off, leaving you lovely i9300 owners to join the i9305 club :D

Got the chance to switch at no expense, bring on 3's all you can eat 4G later this year until then I'll have to make do with hsdpa goodness.

Got a really annoying issue with my S3 at the moment. Whenever I'm playing music and the screen turns off, the playback gets choppy and lags a lot. As soon as the screen turns on, it plays fine.

My initial thought was the CPU downclocking on screen off, but even when I set the minimum clock speed to 1400mhz it still lags. Tried both Poweramp and Google Music.

Anyone experienced this?

It's happened on null and crDroid, and with Siyah and Yank kernel. Quite hard to pin down what it is, going to give Temasek CM10.1 a try today and see if I get it on that :(

Over the past few days my battery just seems to drain itself, but nothing has changed at my end that I know of. For example, put it on the bedside cabinet last night at 46% and work up to the phone with 9%, that's 7 hrs of it doing nothing with the screen off!

Going to wipe it and reinstall to rule out anything buggy with the ROM or an App.

I am on an old release of Wanam, version v4.0.1 with JBDomination 1.4 so I am going to put the latest ones one.

Anything else worth trying other than Wanam?

I think I've narrowed it down to music stored on the external sd card. Music playback is fine when streaming with Google Music or played from the internal storage.

External card is a Samsung 16Gb Class 10

I've been using Root box (20130208) for the last few days and it's epic!
So stable and loving the new features and speed of android 4.2
I've tried a few 4.2 roms but there has always been issues, but not with root box.

So far so good :)

For those who have moved from the iPhone 4s to the S3......

How are you finding the S3? Is it better, slower or samey?

Reason why Im asking is that a bloke at work has done this and at first he was happy that the S3 was faster and better. 2 months on and he now wants to go back to the iPhone with the reason it was quicker and when he wanted to do something it did it without lagging. The only lag I have of my S3 is when going into the contacts or using the phone it self - a second or 2 before it opens. There is a hack/mod to keep these things in memory but im not too bothered. This is the only lagging im seeing.

Im wondering if it is because his phone isnt rooted and he maybe has a lot of Samsung stuff running in the back ground that he doesnt know of which is causing it. Would a root/custom rom make things better??

I do wonder if people coming from iPhones do this quite a lot. They're used to iOS only allowing a few apps to do things, the rest get shut down. They then come to Android, install anything and everything and soon their phone starts slowing as Android lets them run.

Suggest he looks through his app drawer and gets rid of apps he doesn't really use/need. Are there any cache cleaners that don't need root? Maybe only if you have to authorise each app, but still might be worth a whirl.

On a semi-related note, Greenify lets you choose which apps are closed once you leave the app. Stops the process running in the background much like iOS. Needs root.

Fair play to CPW - handed in my sudden death handset and had it fixed and returned to me within 10 days.

Got a N4 now so going to sell it off - which is the best recycling site to use?

It's to do with program caching a lot of the time. iOS snapshots the screen before exiting a program and on restore you see this image while the program loads in underneath. The app will take a short time to restore in the background before it is usable but users usually think they mis-clicked. As a lot of smartphone users arnt the quickest of cats this is seldom a problem.

I've not had any slowness with my S3, if anything it's faster than my old iPhone 4. I can't see myself going back to Apple unless they do something out of this world.
