***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

I just checked for the MB1 update but I'm getting a "Your device has been modified. Software updates are unavailable" message. I'm assuming this is because I've rooted my phone?

Apart from the root my phone is still stock. Is there anyway to fool it into getting updates or is the only way to update it is using other ROMs?

Just use Kies, mine said the same and Kies does it without an issue.

Seems to be behaving a lot better since i deleted the HDWIdgets clock form my home screen! Been powered on an hour now.

Mine was doing this a lot, leave it overnight and it would randomly turn itself off and on again, freeze totally and have to power off and on again.

Updated to the MB1 and alls fine again :)

Sounds much like imminent sudden death to me. I had this over Christmas.

**** I was just about to write a massive post about how I flashed Wanam last night and since then till now I've had to remove the battery 4 times as the whole phone freezes.

What's the process to get this sorted? Do I need to go through Carphone Warehouse or straight to Samsung?
I guess I need to flash the stock firmware?

hi guys i have bought a s3 about 1 month ago and need a recommendation on a good rubber case? also I assumed it would be a gt i9305 but shows 9300 on boot up? does it make much difference ?

thanks

I've been having a lot of issues with my S3 recently.
For no reason the whole phone will just freeze up, and I have to remove the battery to get it working again. Must have been 5 or so times yesterday.

I'm going to flash crDroid from fresh and see if that makes a difference to anything.

Hi all,

Any other ideas/suggestions about my issue?

REALLY ****** off atm. sent my phone back due to it freezing and restarting itself, got it back today to be told they have updated the firmware (they couldnt because I was on the latest anyway), got the phone home and its freezing again.. Went back to the store for them to say they can only send it away again

It's not, you just got unlucky.

Demand the shop give you a different handset and deal with the warranty issue on the broken one themselves.

no, its ****

I tried that, they were having none of it, other than going in their store room and taking one myself, i had no option but to let them get on with it.

I suggest you cease posting in this thread, sell your SIII, cut your losses and find another model.

You are in a fit of rage and are incapable of seeing you have simply been unlucky, it happens with technology sometimes.

However, seeing as you are on your warpath why are you even trying to get an SIII back, being so crap and all?

why am I trying to get my s3 back? maybe because I took a 2 year contract out for a top of the range phone and im unwilling to pay any extra for another model. When a phone is sent away for repair, you expect it to be.... repaired

And no I havent been unlucky, look at the topics on various forums regarding the faults, even the past 2 pages of this thread show it's a bit more than being a one off problem

Sell a faulty s3, great option.

You've been unlucky, but rage is clouding your vision.

Also an attitude like that is hardly going to make people want to help you :p

Hi all,

Any other ideas/suggestions about my issue?

I had the same issue a few weeks back, would happen randomly, sometimes it would be fine for days, sometimes it would do it several times an hour.

In the end I did a full wipe and format of everything (copied all my pics/files (but not programs) to the external card) on the internal memory. I then installed a new version of the ROM I was using (Omega at the time), and then fully wiped again.

Took a couple of hours to do it all and get all my apps/settings back together, but I've not had it happen once (it's been perfect) since then! I was worried it was sudden death coming on, but it seems to have been perfect since that, touch wood.

I actually tried that a few nights back but it was even worse :O
I made sure I only restored data for a few apps.

I've given it to CPW and they're going to send it off and hopefully repair it
