**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus Thread ****

My S7 Edge is still going super strong after 2 years, best phone I've ever had, but a part of me feels like upgrading just so I can have the latest and greatest again :p

Exact same here, love my S7E but have the upgrade itch.

Why not get an S8?

Must say.. very happy with mine considering I was basically forced into it from having had pretty much every iPhone ever made in the run up.

Not that much of an upgrade from S7... and also because S9 will be out. If I'm going to upgrade it's gonna be to get the latest thing out not last year's :p

Part 2 of that sentence I am fully on board with but I would disagree.. having had an S7 Edge and having an S7 flat somewhere in the house I've got to say the S8 is a massive change. The screen man.. I get it, the S7 Edge has a lovely screen but with the S8 I never get any of the issues I used to with false screen touches etc and the fingerprint sensor is so much faster/more precise etc.

Massive upgrade IMO

Doesn't sound a massive upgrade really. This is the thing for me. The s7E was a big upgrade from my piece of garbage one plus one. S8 isnt. S9 doesn't sound a big upgrade either.

My S7 isn't slow, battery is fine (and that's just age of phone anyway), camera is amazing in low light. Screen is great. And don' l rear finger print.

It's a small upgrade in some areas. That's all.
Especially if you don't play games.

Agree totally, the S7 to S8 was one of the worst upgrade I've ever done. So much so that I've just got rid of my S8 and moved away from Samsung altogether, I absolutely hated it.

False screen touches? Fingerpring sensor slow, not precise? Sounds like you had a dodgy phone, I don't have any of those problems.

Still on a S6 edge+ here, wouldn't mind a new phone but no real sense upgrading currently, phone does all i need it to.

I may upgrade/change to an S9 when they come out..

As i sometimes find my note 8 is to big & heavy where I found my old S7E was the perfect size & weight..

Agreed. The weight of the Note 8 is hefty.

I love how the V30 is both big and relatively light. The last thing I want is an unnecessary heft weighting my pocket down.

Doesn't look enough of an upgrade from an S8. I went for the S8 over the S8+ which I regret a little. I'd maybe upgrade for the larger S9+ but would depend on cost. Some rumours have it looking very expensive but we'll see for sure when it's released.

No front finger sensor, be waiting for the S10 then :(

Yeah I don't think any of the big manufacturers will be getting it this year, or at least not until Q4. The sensor/tech is only in its first iteration so a little slow. S10 would be the likely candidate as the Note 9 can only be a few months away from a completed design and production.

Yeah I'll be holding out until that comes, plus it doesnt offer anything groundbreaking over my S7.

+1

Still loving my GS 8.

Only thing I really want is much better battery life, front facing stereo speakers and a further refined camera, oh and in glass fingerprint scanner would be nice.

Hopefully google's next phones will be good and not have a ton of issues....

Just to play devils advocate here.. it appears to have 3 of those 4 things.. although I suspect by much better you mean like days.. like physics bending better?

I don't actually think this is designed to attract S8 owners anyway, beyond early adopters.. I mean Apple have done just fine with a tick/tock kind of thing and as I've said before.. where do you go with all screen?

Similar to cars, at the start there was all sorts of crazy then it settled down to the basic shape and layout we've had for 50+ years.

I'm afraid we're near there with phones.. they're glas and aluminium slabs running 1 of 2 operating systems so scrap it out for incremental bumps in camera quality and nonsense like siri/bixby/animoji etc
