**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus Thread ****

I've just received my s9 replacement from the insurance company. I've been sent the dual sim version where as I used to have the single sim. Am I right in thinking the only difference is that I could put an second sim card in and that no features have been cut back to accommodate this?

Just ordered an S9 plus 256gb on Vodafone through the deal on HUKD. £180 up front (less £30 amazon voucher from vouchercodes if it tracks) and £23 a month for 2 years for 4gb data, unlimited texts and minutes. Didn't seem too bad to me. It was quite a rushed purchase to replace my nexus 5x which bootloops now (doesn't everyone's?)

Correct. The second slot will take either a second sim or a memory card.

What happened to your phone in order to need an insurance replacement?

Cheers, yes is does seem exactly the same experience, just the occasional reference to sim 1/sim 2 in the settings.

I dropped it onto carpet and the impact point seems to have been the edge of the screen. I thought it would just be a screen replacement but they just said it was beyond economical repair and they'd send a replacement. Not bad service, although a little annoying as I initially brought direct from samsung on their 0% credit deal with a view to potentially taking up to the new version at the 1year point.

Which insurance company do you use if you don’t mind me asking?

Can you still not get a new version at the 1 year point or do you have to return original phone or something? Also interested who you used for insurance? I had insurance but didn't renew as premium looked expensive.

Just to add to the insurance questions above, I use Nationwide's Flex Plus Current Account. It is pricey if you need it only for mobile phone insurance at £13, but if you use any of the other benefits it's very good value for money. Even better if you have it topped at with £2,500 getting 3% interest essentially meaning that you get £75 a year deducted from the £156 cost.

I have used their mobile phone insurance to claim twice, and both times phone was picked up on a Wednesday and received by the Saturday!

Who underwrites their phone insurance policies?

Ahahaha, that's still cheaper than the offer I got from the Whorehouse even before the £75 deduction. I worked it out and found I would have to break my screen twice in two years before their deal was worth it and the excess meant I wouldn't even be able to claim if I broke the glass back.

The documentation stated it needed to be the original phone. I'd still be able to use the regular trade in but it might not be so nice a deal.

I've got the nationwide flex account and couldn't fault them really.

Think it's Lifestyle Services Group. You pay an excess of £25 (non-iphone) or £50 if stolen and you can claim 4 times a year. You do not need to register the phone(s) and it covers you and any other family members.

To be fair I got the account for the breakdown cover and travel insurance, the phone insurance was just a free perk (which is funny, cause I before I got it I never needed it, and as soon as I did, I claimed twice in 2 months!). :p

Just about to put the order in for an S9+ from Mobiles.co.uk, 24-month contract for £190 upfront and £23 a month. 4gb data and unlimited calls/texts

Looking for suggestions for a case for it. Seen Spigen cases on eBay that look decent but are they any good?

All Spigen products are awful IME. I use a Gear4 Piccadilly on my S9+.

I've said this before in the thread.. they're just "cases" that will appear under a number of brands. If you want a demonstrable USP you need Tech21, Gear4, Otterbox etc for protection or Samsung for things like the LED/Clearview lines.

The rest are pretty much bog standard lumps of plastic regardless of what superlatives they use to describe them.
