The Official Samsung SM226BW Thread!

Hi, Just placed an order for two, am very very happy about my choice.

I'll let you guys know how i get on, but after having my hands on a TFT monitor for a couple of days of gaming it blows away CRT, so this has gotta be even better, oh TFT for gaming has finally arrived for me. :D

I've just ordered one of these but I’m concerned that my GFX card may not be up to the job. I have a ATI X850XT that at the moment does everything I need it to do, but I've had a quick look in settings and it appears that it does not display at 1680*1050(the 226 native res?) Is this just because the settings option doesn’t display resolutions my current monitor can’t use? Or am I going to need to spend some more cash on a newer GFX card?

Thanks for your help.

I have the platinum edition of that card and I'd love to know the answer to that too.

/edit after a quick google it looks like it will go up to Maximum Resolution: 2048 x 1536 Pixels

Cheers,

G

Yeah its definately limited to resolutions your current monitor supports.

This monitor looks great, im very very tempted to get one. Looking forward to your review guru.

Hmm...now, should I get this or the Viewsonic VX2025wm? They're about the same price, so is MVA technology preferrable to the extra 2", or is it the other way around.

Dammit, I'd just settled on a monitor!

I realise that the question on this card actually being able to display the native resolution of the Sammy has been answered but has the card got enough grunt to run games at this higher resolution? I too have the same X850XT card and am a little concerned that it will need updating if I purchase one of these screens? What do you think guys?

Cheers...

Would depend on the game I suppose.

I only really play LFS, my X800 Bravo copes without problems at 1600x1200 with a load of AA/AF, so 1680x1050 shouldn't be an issue as it is less actual pixels.

More activity on the net talking about this monitor now (from a few days ago anyway) Seems the conectivity and non adjustible height seems the main issues if any.
Personally i would like to know how people compare this to the Dell 2007 as this was the monitor that i was planning on getting up until this beast came on the scene.
