The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Erm wow,was not expecting this http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.co...opic/26711-the-new-vrsrex-screenshot-contest/

Also, just got the IOM DL but don't think I will have a chance till this weekend at the earliest to give it a fly over. Will try to bring some screen shots along if I get the time. Alas due to having some major curve balls thrown into my life this year, I simply have not had the time to spend as much as I would like on FSX or taking many new screen shot of the great array of software released this year, although with Xmas approaching, I hope time will become more free in my life to start enjoying flying and sharing with you folks a bit more.

On a side note, I am very happy to see this thread (which I certainly regards as a thread for all FSX simmers) is still breathing live thanks to the many other flight enthusiasts that add some wonderful comments/screen shots/helpful tips/software links/news etc over the past few years. Considering there is nothing really else out there, apart from maybe P3D, that comes close to a decent flight sim, I hope we will see many more years of enjoyable flying and fun.

My thanks and appreciation goes out to all who have contributed and still are contributing to this thread.

Happy flying.

I think we need to wait and see first, never a good idea to jump on the band wagon when the wagon has not even got out of the garage yet.

But still, it does look a viable option and hopefully a decent improvement over the now very old FSX, especially if most things we bought for FSX will be transferable.

P3D + DX11 + Multithread support + 64Bit + Occulus Rift = I will never get off my PC again :).

We're very conscious of the latest developments surrounding P3D - it is something we have been following attentively. Once we have had an opportunity to evaluate the platform (P3Dv2), we'll be in a better position to make some decisions.

Here's a couple of screenshots we've released this week showing our latest work on the aircraft models.

Good to hear that FSLabs are keeping their ear to the ground in regards to future sim development, at least that leaves the door open for future possibilities.

Also, your team is doing some fantastic work on your latest project. The aircraft model and texture is looking really good in those shots. I cannot wait to get my hands on her and give her a proper screen shot treatment.

In the meantime, enjoy this latest batch of unedited screen shots this time showing off A2A's P-51 Mustangs:

I suspect, as Revolution X does trees as well as buildings, it replaces TreeScapes

I suspect that the trees in TreeScapes will be better and more numerous then Rev X trees. So perhaps adjust them in the library and if you get both showing up and it does not look right, you can probably delete the tree files in Rev X. Still, if that is the case, Rev X better be excellent in all the other areas.

Keeping an eye on this one myself.

Just a suggestion, if you are going to post more then @10 shots, perhaps put some of them into spoiler tags, saves a thread page getting rather long and people's middle mouse wheel wearing out ;).

FSX is a real pain in the ass sometimes!

I was flying perfectly yesterday, wanted to do a flight this morning and now every time I try launch, fsx crashers grrrrrrr!!!!!:mad::mad:

So rebuilding again.

For anyone having FSX crashing problems; sometime the easiest solution is to back up first the essential config files, all the files in the fsx.cfg directory & scenery.cfg (that's all the main ones covered I think that are installed via a vanilla FSX install). Then enter your FSX discs and choose repair function on your FSX install. With some luck it should solve the problem and get you up and running again on vanilla FSX, if that works all you need to do now is to copy back the files you backed up and hopefully everything will work. Although the problem could possible come from one of the cfg files, like FSX.CFG (unlikely) or scenery.cfg (I have had problems originating from corrupted scenery entries in the past) and there is also a file with an XML extension (can't remember full name offhand) that can cause problems.

In my experience the best way to keep FSX up and running is as follows:
1) Install vanilla FSX on a designated HD (SSD) with at least @200-250GB space.
2) Install REX on a seperate HD (SSD) as well as ALL scenery and airports (depending on how many addons you have I suggest at least 1TB+)
3) All other addons like aircraft should be installed on the same HD (SSD) as FSX, especially if you tweak them or add liveries.
4) Once you have it all up and running the way you want it, backup the entire FSX HD (SSD) (even with my bloated install of tons of aircraft, it takes up @250GB) to another HD. Also backup all files where the fsx.cfg and scenery.cfg files are.
5) When adding more addons to FSX or tweaking it, make sure most common things you use in FSX still work properly but mainly that it still runs ok.
6) If FSX starts crashing, first start looking at the files in the fsx.cfg & scenery.cfg directories, rename the current file and then copy the original backup into the directory and see if it runs. If all those files don't seem to cause the problem, then either 1) remove the current FSX install drive and retrieve from backup 2) if you added many addons and/or done much tweaking since your last backup, save your current FSX install to another location, remove and retrieve the backup. It should run ok, then copy your recent addons/tweaks back over from your newly made backup and check FSX after you do each one.

In the end, you need to learn yourself what the easiest and most time saving way is to safeguard your FSX install.

Hope this helps.

So does REX 4 replace REX 3 or is it an addition to REX 3? In other words, does it share the same texture sets as REX 3 plus new textures or just new textures not including the REX 3 textures, meaning you won't have access to the REX 3 textures anymore unless you use REX 3 again?

It is somewhat confusion from what I am reading.

I would highly recommend for anyone into flight simming to watch Episode 13 Season 3 of Person of Interest, towards the end of this particular episode is something that should be appreciated by any simmer, it certainly tickled my funny bone.

Will try to upload that particular segment on my youtube channel in the near future perhaps.

Lovely shots indeed although in shot #5 it is a little evident you used slew (not that there is anything wrong with using slew to take screen shots) to get that shot, due to the reversed vapor trials of the wings and lack of wing flex, unless that was a backward take off :D? Please do not see this as a negative criticism, just an observation after making that mistake many times myself in past screen shots.
