**** The Official Sony Xperia 1 Thread ****

That is only part of it. On my O2 phone there was no option to enable it unlike on my ee one. Seems someone at O2 forgot about it.

Also just had the update on ee.

Claim won't be validated until 14 days after filling the form out for obvious consumer law reasons and believe it's up to another 28 days for delivery after that.

Fingers crossed I still get mine.I'm not holding out much hope. Would cover all my time I wasted driving around and chatting to the idiots.

That's a bit crap.

The problem would be if I don't get the headphones it invalidates the reason why I bought what I did, I'd have waited for prices to fall.

Carphone warehouse are apparently only 1000.

It is annoying for a customer point of view but it is to stop people abusing their consumer rights and 14 day return window to buy things for pre-order bonuses and simply take them back.

Personally I don't go for these limited offers like CPW, at least O2 don't have that otherwise I would have returned it there and then as they delivered mine a day late with no explanation.

For full £630 I definitely wouldn't be happy with this phone but hopefully can bring the price down after flogging the headphones. Unless they put some effort into the camera app though, I'm probably getting rid of this come September when see what Pixel and Note series bring to the table. As it stands I don't have anything to go back to if I return this, only options I fancy would be S10 or OP7P. I mean, is it that hard to ask for a Samsung S10+ with 90Hz screen, Note stylus and Pixel camera software :D

For all intents and purposes the camera on this thing seems to have two "auto" modes. One is the auto mode and the other one is manual mode with all changeable parameters set to auto (let's you toggle HDR on and off too) and very often results are different with me preferring the latter.

There is a a low light/night scene mode (that's comes on automatically) but it feels like Sony's approach isn't to actually to make the camera see in the dark like Huawei. It just seems to go for that dark moody look that your eye can see, if you want to improve visibility then need to do it yourself in manual settings.

So i've seen this thread for a while, I've had a sony for a while, the z1,z2, compact and now the xz1 compact, so is this Xperia 1 any good, is it a worthwhile upgrade finally as the xz1 is pretty fantastic still.
Also is there a compact version of this?

I've seen Sony Xperia Ace mentioned, basically looks like an up to date spec version of their compact devices. Can't say I would recommend this to you as this is anything but a compact device. Sony Xperia 2 is rumoured to have a 6.1" screen which isn't a huge reduction from current 6.5".

Also of course Spigen release a case for this now that I spent money on a Chinese version, think I'll invest as buttons feel too stiff on this case.

Well looks like I'm up the **** creek now if I want to return it. That stupid 3.5mm dongle has somehow separated itself from my earphones and gone missing.

So now stuck without being able to use my headphones for at least a day and if I try to return it they will probably charge me a ridiculous fee for "missing accessories".

This is why I utterly despise companies pulling this ****** and needless move of removing headphone jacks. Anti consumer nonsense designed to make people spend more money on overpriced headphones.

I've ordered an exact replacement Sony dongle off rainforest for a fiver.

Anyone has any issues with WiFi? Apps fail to sync up properly while on WiFi sometimes, switching to 4G seems to fix it and had connection drop twice on it in the house which never has happened on the old phones.

I have had that but I have also had it on the U11 for the 2 years I had it. So I am not sure if its Android being terrible or my router (parents have the same). Both options are sadly just as likely.

Bought a Spigen to replace the knock-off. Buttons and case are much softer and case is slightly thicker. Fingerprint sensor also has better access.

Can't say I've had much trouble with apps on my last phone, I just have a standard Sky router and it dropped a WiFi connection today again right next to it. Getting pretty annoying having to toggle WiFi and 4G on and off when apps aren't syncing right.

I'm genuinely not sure if there's something wrong with mine but it's going back tomorrow, I tried to like this phone.

App syncing issues happens at least 2-3 times a day, on top also have an issue with it dropping my WiFi connection a few times a day. Not something I remember happening on my other android handsets to a point where I notice it daily. As others said WiFi calling and 4G calling are not supported on this with O2, not sure it would affect other carriers when I go SIM only.

Phone also completely locked up on me the other day. All the side buttons worked but when it was unlocked it didn't respond to any of my touches. Notifications we're still coming in and apps running but it just wouldn't register my touches anywhere on the screen. After 20 minutes I just gave up and restarted the phone manually with volume and power buttons.

It's just a lot of little things adding up that didn't affect me on other phones that make me feel positively meh with this phone.
