The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

Played games fine... just had a near panic situation though.

One of the wires on my 1200 heatsink fan has come lose and the fan stopped. Was playing Dawn of War and everything froze... on reboot it would get to windows then stop and reboot. Looked in the case to see the fan had stopped and the heatsink was boiling to the touch, eek!

I'll tell you what though guys, the 120mm fan on the heatsink keeps the RAM and mosfets lovely and chilly, it really does cool a large area.

heres one for you rich why do certain boards now come with a molex connector?

I believe it's to provide more stable voltages to motherboards with the increasing demands of PCI-E etc. My DFI has one. :) :)

EDIT - Oh **** it's not plugged in!

Well my rig seems MUCH more stable now I plugged in a molex connector to the motherboard which I previously missed.

I'm priming right now (while browsing, lol) and it seems to be doing fine, though everything is juttering everywhere. I figure if it's stable with doing both at the same time all is good. :D

Richdog, how is your CAGBE getting on?

Aside from having to RMA my RAM to get something to work in dual-channel my CABGE suddenly seems to have taken great leaps in stability. Been at 2.6ghz playing games like a trooper and priming while browsing and not a hiccup. I'm going to shoot for 2.7ghz soon and i'll prime it while im drinking with my lady tonight.

I think plugging the extra molex connector into the motherboard worked wonders for stability. Can anyoneelse confirm that actual voltage on the DFi boards is 0.1 above what it's set to in the BIOS?

Also decided what PSU i'm going to get, might start a thread on it, it's amazing. :)

Anyone else in addition to whom?

In addition to my imaginary thread Bert, who sits on my forehead.

No but seriously someone told me in the other opteron thread hence why I said the words "anyone else". Was it worth you asking? :D

Agreed, although I think I use a different one. I would recommend the 618 series BIOS however, as I believe the later ones are still in more of a testing stage. I don't really keep up to date with them, so I may be wrong.

It's different BIOS for different types of RAM, TCCD, BH-5 etc. It's very much experimental with DFI BIOS. Pain in the rear to be honest. :)

Guys PLEASE can someone run a 1MB SuperPI for me at 2.7ghz. With my rig i'm scoring a terrible 35 secs running single-channel and 2T and I want to see what difference dual-channel and 1T makes.

Please please please someone. :)

30s 9x297 (166 divider) CABGE.

Wow... 5 seconds lower than mine...

EDIT - Ahh my memory divider was on 133mhz lol... raised it to 140 and I got 34 secs. So I guess Super PI is sensitive to memory speed. However it must be noted that in real-world apps the memory divider makes very little, if any, difference in performance.

Richdog 300*9 with RAM 1:1 i just break the 30s mark

Whats your 3DMARK 2001 score mate?

Can you run it with your CPU at 9*300 and your 7800GT at 477/1150 so we can compare? :)

EDIT - I just got 26'668 with those settings.

I know, i just want it as an apporoximate comparison, of course I realise it isn't an exact science. However, it's a benchmarl dependand on system performancxe so if he has his 7800GT and CPU at the same speeds as mine it will give me a rough idea of hwo unoptimised my system is with single-channel and 2T. :)

WTF... that is 1'000 more than me and barely any more mhz on your GT... something is seriously wrong. Try 3DMARK2001 and let me know, this is really annoying. :(

Wow 4k higher... if that's due to single-channel, 2T then that is amazing... I need to get some new RAM before I comment more on that... i'm pretty shocked...

Well im getting seriously peed off here, my 1MB is 34 secs and this RAM ain't booting in DC.

Trying to get some RAM off a friend to see if it is a RAM or a mobo issue, but im really irked my performance isn't up to scratch.

I have another favour to ask... can someone please quickly run Super PI and 3DMARk2001 with these settings:

*CPU @ 2.7ghz or 9*300
*140 or 150mhz divider (7/10 or 3/4)
*2T command rate
*tightest timings possible.

I know i'm a pain for asking but if a couple of people could do that to the exact specifications and post their scores it would help me a lot in finding the weak link in my system. :(

Thanks in advance,

Richard. :)
