Well this is how it was done..

Military base.
Guy does it to another guy..
During which 3rd guy freaks out and says it is real and not training grenade.
Guy holding it walks freaking out to a safe place to throw it..

instead of just putting a new pin in it?

Or holding lever and tying something round it placing it safely down and calling ammo techs/MPs?

I'm guessing these where American soldiers or your fantasy Serbian super soldier dads mates?
