getting used to the camera now (500d). I have to say, the controls feel very intuitive and the camera is well layed out. It is too small for my largish hands though, so i may need a grip. The 'nifty fifty' is so much sharper than the kit lens (which has been on about twice, and each time i have gone back to the fifty).

here is a horse

I am really wanted a slightly wider angle in a lot of my pics so far. The 50mm + 1.6x crop is slightly too long. Next purchase will probably be wide L lens, or the 12-14 tokina.

The horse was walking next to a path than ran off into the distance to the right, it would have given the shot some more purpose i think, but i am limited by talent and budget!

The new toy arrived. Well...a far from new 80-200mm f2.8 AF-D.Took a bit of a gamble with this one. The filter ring is snapped and it's in bad cosmetic condition. The glass is thankfully still good though. Quite happy for the sum of £99.

The thing weighs a tonne.

That one is discontinued now and replaced by the dual ring version but I've seen a few places still trying to get £700 new for it. Second hand though it usually goes for anywhere between £350 and £500 depending on the condition. I'm certainly happy with it for the price and glad the glass is untouched.

The newer version has a ring for focus and a separate ring for zooming. The version I've got is the push-pull or one touch version.
