First attempt at 'proper' photos with my new Olympus E-P2: Nic pics!

Those are the best of the bunch I think. Any pointers?

Looking to get my next lens too...any recommendations?

Thanks!
One thing which you often don't realise until you review the pictures is how much a shadow can affect a photo. The shadow in your first image is interesting (albeit leaves the bottom half a bit gloomy), in the second it's giving you a nice contrast between light and dark, but in the third one it just lost you half the picture.

Our eyes and minds ignore and compensate for quite a lot - I've had several nice portraits ruined by a shadow falling across the face so I'm a bit sensitive to it now!

Otherwise enjoy the EP2 - I love the m4/3 system :)

They were my 3 favourites from the shoot, mainly due to the shadow I think, but I see what you're saying about the third - I have two more shots of the same subject with different shadow, so I'll look at them to see if my choice was right!

Any advice on the lens? :)

A bit of noob question but how do you upload your pics on here?
You get the image URl and paste it between the IMG brackets like this

Your own preference is never wrong, in my eyes - but when outsiders like me who weren't there take a look, we tend to get distracted by stuff you've blotted out :)

As for the lens I'm guessing you have the 14-42mm?

The two other most exciting yet still affordable lenses available (in my eyes, I'm not after long zooms for wildlife etc., but you might be) are the Olympus 45mm f/1.8 and the Panasonic 20mm f/1.7. These are both fast and can produce beautiful images once you've got the knack.

If you're a little more flush and can pay out some more money, then the Olympus 12mm f/2.0 and the Panasonic Leica 25mm f/1.4 are possibilities, I would love either one!

Of course these are prime lenses, no zoom, so you'd be using your feet to zoom or swapping lenses, but that's half the fun :)

Personally I have now sold my 14-42, and now have Panny 14mm f/2.5, 20mm f/1.7 and the Oly 45mm f/1.8. The 20mm gets the most use, followed by the 14mm, then the 45mm.

I do.

Hadn't realised that I could use the Panasonic lenses () told you I was new to this!

That looks like just the ticket (I'd been looking at the Oly 17mm f2.8 but had read that it wasn't as good as the Panasonic)

Thanks for your help!

Thank you just had camera now for 2 weeks and today pick up my first tripod so hopefully leaning new tricks

Nice one. Im looking at a camera as I just have my HTC Desire HD at the moment. I decided to get a GPU for £120 instead of a camera as £120 wouldn't get me a good camera really. Ive been offered one for my 21st which is in August so a while yet but hopefully DSLR prices will drop ;)
