I prefer the colours, the B+W look washed out (as do the colours) I can see what your doing and it seems your running it through some fashion filters in LR but I dont think you need to. i think this was discussed earlier and you said it was down to taste which is half true BUT on the flip side its so easy to ruin great shots by running it through the LR spinner just too much. I always find that sort of processing is reserved for shots set in high light or if your shooting ETTR
have you tried it with a few contrast/vibrance/black tweaks on the original image? does that not look better:confused:

In the black and whites I clipped the black end of the curves and then tweaked the b/w conversion, in the colours were done in photoshop manually. The 'washed out' look was deliberate, and I always ETTR as far as my 5D will allow without blowing highlights.

As for vibrance/contrast tweaks, they're not for me. I appreciate that they can look nice but I'm experimenting for now and want to settle on a style that is recognisably mine in the same way that you can instantly recognise a Jaime Ibarra piece. I probably won't settle on anything as extreme as that, but a consistent different processing look is 90% of the battle in getting a consistent feel to your images in terms of the general public; stuff like composition, lens choice and styling all matter as well, but the public will generally notice the basic stuff like colours first.

Sorry for spamming this thread lately. Taking into account what you guys said I had another go at a couple of them. It's not been much work but trying my B/W processing on them, just through lightroom so no real retouching, didn't even bother putting a watermark on these.
Number two and three are the winner for me, could see those in a glossy mag as part of a perfume advert.

Trying to take a picture of the moon with some trees and accidently hit the shutter button after waiting 30 seconds for it to take a picture I didn't want, this is what it took

And the picture I was trying to take which seems a little boring now

Still haven't got much of a clue what I'm doing, but hey I'm enjoying it

One from a wedding recently, the little girl crying was so emotional seeing her mum and dad finally getting married. I felt like a was interrupting some parts of the service and a few on looks watching me sneak around the church but without doing this I wasn't able to get shots like these!
