Took a few quick snaps earlier and decided to give Lightroom a try! Easy to get carried away with processing! Original or processed? Thoughts?

I like the processed version better. Forgive me, but I think B/W is lame these days. It seems like a cop-out of taking a quality colour photo, like the photographer just didn't know what to do with the lighting or something. That's just me, though. :)

B&W has its place, but it must suit the image. I'm also not a fan of overly used B&W processing to images as I love colour. If done properly though on a suitable scene, the different tones of grey can really stand out and give a suitable feel to a shot.

A few from chester zoo. Taken with lumix g2 and oly 45mm f1.8.

Yeah, if a scene has a lot of obvious colour, it looks wrong to have it converted. Still, a lot of photos look better in black and white, depending on processing. Generally I find minimalistic photos suit black & white more.

Not great as I had no tripod (propped up the camera on a lens hood and some rocks for all of these) and there's a weird cast on my ND filter for some reason that never used to be there, and on top of that I'm not very good at landscapes :D

Second one is the best for me Ksanti. Like the composition of it as both sides of the rocks that go into the water just about fall into rule of thirds and draw my eyes along them back to the foreground and vice versa. Possibly need to increase the tonal range of the contrast though to pull back some of the detail in the rocks closest to the camera but otherwise a very nice shot imo.

Although the original isn't far from black and white, it's actually colour :) hehe

I also prefer the processed one with the old almost sepia like tint since it seems to show a lot of the detail on that old lighthouse tower.

The cloud was pretty cool but it was nice that the sun just decided to poke through as I was there on my bike on the way home from work :D

Here's the best of what I took at this year's Airbourne festival (free air show in Eastbourne)

Taken with my 650d and a borrowed 75-300mm lens so nothing amazing but it was fun. Some PP to bring out the colours a little since the sun was quite harsh and it was a little hazy.

Shots of the Vulcan which was as awesome as I remember it from about 15 years ago at one of the first Airbournes :D

This 1024 width rule is a pain in the neck, I hate it :(

Anyway, here is a quick one from Tom and I's recent wedding, only 1 for now, don't know why I really like it...I think it's because its 'busy'

Some pics I took last week at the beach in Shoreham

Weird things that grow on the beach? Looked pretty plain originally but B&W filters make it look almost alien :)

What is left of an Oyster shell with a B&W filter applied
