The potential new US president

That would suggest that the same parties would be voted in, in every election.

Well the same two parties are. In the UK the same two parties again always get in. So the theory does hold water.

If people didn't treat political parties like football teams they have to remain loyal to their whole lives you'd expect to see new parties getting in all the time wouldn't you?

No, not two parties. I mean the same single party would be getting in every time.

The republicans are mainly there for entertainment value for only. Unfortunately a large proportion of the American population are dim and don't see the funny side.

All an American politician has to do is mention how great their country was before the previous president, promise those good days will come again, end with "god bless America" and the crowd go nuts. Clapping wildly, arms flailing about, cheering, whooping.

....tis a funny country.

I remember when Bush W. got elected. The 2 years before that everyone made fun of him for doing stupid things and being stupid... and then he won the election*. I hope that doesn't happen here but it could...

*Debatable, I know.

You understand what a laughable fraud that the Mormons is right

Never has a username been more apt. Comparing Mormonism to Scientology is idiotic at best. Nevermind the fact that Mormons are some of the nicest people, if rather devout, you'll meet.

On a more topical note, I think Romney has become a victim of his party more than anything else. He was by far the most moderate candidate during the primaries but was forced to veer more and more to the Right to beat the likes of Santorum, Perry and Gingrich. And now that he has secured his party's support on the back of that hardline republicanism, he cannot go back to what he actually set his stall out with.

Obama will crush him, it's a foregone conclusion. The closer we get to November, the further Romney slips into the base and becomes further alienated from crucial voting blocs.

Indeed, there is a whole 120 years between the writing of the books that started the religions. I am sure Smith was nowhere near as crazy as Hubbard. :D

More saliently, Smith didn't molest children.

e: I'm not saying that the Mormon religion isn't based on a somewhat farfetched story, clearly it is. But in a market of rising from the dead, world created in six days, immaculate conception and ****ing Xenu, Mormonism is definitely on the lower end of the deranged spectrum.

I wish our presidential elections are as exciting as the American ones. In America they always manage top find the President leaving Vegas with a Hooker, but then we have Prince Harry for that. :p

Ridiculous. They're two of the most comparable religions, not least because the fraudulence of their conception is so blindingly obvious to those who have investigated their origins (in part because they are both so young). Both religions are essentially rackets, and their histories of nothing more than histories of successful con jobs.

Speaking of Mormonism, I still cannot believe that Mitt hasn't been pressed on why he was content to be part of an officially racist. That is, until 1978, when to coincide with the Civil Rights Act, the church received another revelation that black people did actually have souls. Tim Russert briefly pushed Romney on the point, but no way near hard enough.

I think the free phone thing is run by the individual states. It would be run by Ohio state but this person thinks Obama is doing it.

People on welfare really do get free cell phones though. It supposed to help them find jobs LOL.

Google "Lifeline Assistance Program".

http://www.assurancewireless.com/public/howtoqualify.aspx

Assurance Wireless is a Lifeline Assistance program brought to you by Virgin Mobile and supported by the federal Universal Service Fund. If you qualify for Lifeline Assistance, you can receive a FREE phone, 250 FREE monthly minutes and 250 FREE text messages.

To see if you qualify, choose your state in the dropdown menu below.

If you don’t see your state, that means Assurance Wireless service is not currently available in your area. But check back soon, as we are working hard to expand.

I like obama. I hope he gets re-elected. I can't see the bad he's done, or reasons for him to lose office? Fair enough I don't follow American politics so close I can judge as well as an expert. But from an outsider peering in, he seems to have done a great job. More so than any of the past people to sit in the seat.

Do you think this moron, I mean Mormon who thinks the earth is 4000 years old should be given any political power (or even a sharp soon for that matter?).

not true in the slightest, no Mormon who's read any of the books appropriate to Mormonism believes in the YEC theory.

You understand what a laughable fraud that the Mormons is right
Don't get me wrong I think all religions are bogus but this and Scientology are so blatantly scams it's laughable! How anyone can take them seriously in this day and age is beyond me!

how is it any more of a scam than any other religion, it requires no monetary contribution to be a member and although to go to the temple you're required to pay a full tithe (10% of earnings) no one check up on this, as far as religions go it's quite moderate and progressive.

again, any more so than any other religion? in the middle ages the catholic church sold indulgences, or forgiveness for future sins to the masses so they could build a new cathedral in Rome.

Mormonism promotes family life, care for the sick and elderly, moderation and frugality, tolerance of those in other religions and those in no religion at all. assuming a member is living all of these values why would you respect them any less than anyone else?

it coincided with the building of a temple in South America, where most people would have been unable to use it. While Joseph Smith was president of the church there was a black member of the 12 apostles (which you could not be a part of unless you had the priesthood (which is what black people we prevented from having until 1978, nothing prevented them from being members before this time)).

not a particular fan of the guy but he has more problems than his religion (as evidenced by this gaff!)
