The RAC have lost my car.

Did you lodge a complaint? Tbqh you should really be getting some compo for the shocking service.

I'd also assume your insurance company will be going after RAC for the claim considering it's pretty cut and dry who's at fault.
Yes, I wrote them a letter two days ago and sent it recorded delivery this morning. In it I detail everything that has happened (with dates and times) and how disgusted I am with the service I have received.
In it I included my membership card, cut in two.

just madness the mind boggles

ok the car is lost what can we do to help sir ?

would be a good start at least.
They don’t give a fig. It is outside of their normal procedure so they don’t have any kind of process to deal with it.
I’ve given up now. Spent too much of my time on the phone, explaining the same story over and over again.

Did you ask where it was, where it had been and how they managed to locate it?
I'm going to when (if?) it arrives.
The driver probably won't know anything though. He'll just get a job sheet that says collect $CARMAKE car from $PICKUP place and deliver it to $DROPOFF place.

Yes, if they could have given me any information at all. Anything, and I would have probably chalked it up to general shoddy staffing. But offing me absolutely nothing. No idication that the car would ever be delivered or even where the car was make me take the action I did.

He got told 5 working days into this that they will return it within 5 working days?

The issue is OP picked a fight around knowing exactly what its location was for some reason about feelings etc.
Huh? No, I picked a fight about not knowing when my car would be delivered back to me. I only started to care about where it was when it became clear that RAC had no idea where it was and even denied having it in a couple of phonecalls.
I really don't understand what your beef is with this. Do you think it's acceptable for the RAC to have my car for 16 days when they said they would deliver it 3 to 5 days after collection, never update me on the progress of the claim and never call me back when asked? If you thinnk that's acceptable then I'm sure there is a good career move for you there.

The plot thickens…….
Car arrived with orange tape across the rear window. Odd, I thought.
Looking at the car, something feels off. Then I notice, no dealer sticker in the rear window.
On opening the boot, I find small pieces of glass…….

So, I reckon some idiot broke the tailgate windows and that’s why no one has been talking to me.
