The Radeon RX 6800 (XT) Owners Thread.

So I got my 5800x fitted today. Turned on SAM in the bios. Is it worth doing that?

I read somewhere that it can make some games run worse?

Anyone had any experiences with SAM and a 6800XT?

It has arrived and once installed (following the self-destruction of that infuriating PCI-e clip that thankfully broke off - good riddance!) and there was much rejoicing:

It's a lovely looking card:

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your Radeon RX 6800 (XT).

Put together my son’s new build over the weekend.

should I have used 2 single cables to the 8 pin graphics card power supply rather than using one cable with the jumper set?

So you've used one cable that splits into 2 at the GPU end?

If so it's always best to use 2 single cables :)

Yep, newbie error by the looks of it, although I’ve seen you tubers do it too!

will add a 2nd cable tomorrow as the Z63 cooler arrives tomorrow too.

then will post pics of the final virgin outcome!

If they've done it on a YouTube channel then I'd be watching someone else :D

Look forward to seeing some pics

So my 6800 arrived last Thursday last week and I slapt it in my new machine: 5900x, 3600mhz 32gb 8Pack Teamgroup ram and a x570 tomahawk.
All firmwares and drivers up-to-date.

Been playing Friday and all over the weekend and constantly getting crashes relating to DX12 and driver time-outs.
Tried running it overclocked, stock, undervolted and none of those seem to help.

Card runs a little warmer then I thought it would so set some more aggressive fan profiles but definitely not overheating.

Anyone else experienced this??

EDIT:- I have just implemented a TdrDelay registry key with a value of 8 to see if this helps at all from reddit recommendations.

Update:- Since adding the TdrDelay registry key with the value of 8 and restarting I have had a full solid day of gaming with no issues. Hopefully this may help others in the future.

mine idles around 50 - but the fan is barely even on at this point if at all
in default modes its around 70-75 in game

OC mode had it going to high 80s (which scared me a bit :D)

think it just has a very relaxed fan profile by default (so is nice and quiet)

Awww that's good to know, that's the temperatures i'm seeing also both stock and overclock so that seems pretty average for these then.
I was worried about the Junction temps until I did a little reading and this is just the hotspot that can average 110/115.

Also updated original post a little further up regarding the registry tweak that has (touch wood) made a full day of gaming stable.

Got my 6800 at the end of last week, installed it into my new build (first PC build) and turned it on, everything worked first time! I was expecting some issues.

My build is:
Lian Li Lancool Mesh Performance
Ryzen 5 3600XT
MSI X470 Gaming Plus Max
Adata NVME 1TB
Hyper X Fury 32gb 3600mHZ
PowerColor Radeon RX6800

I currently have a 1080p Lenovo monitor, previously used with my Xbox. My PC is running 1080p at 144hz seamlessly on Warzone. I’m thinking of upgrading to a 3440x1440 monitor: will I see a massive drop in frame rate with 1440 ultra wide? Should I stick with my 1080 monitor?

Can’t seem to attach a picture to my post - only include a link. Any advice?

Do you have something to back this up? I can do it with two cables but it will look ugly when I have one cable that spits so not keen on using two
Normally to do with the amount of power a single cable can safely pull down, wasn't it 150W? Either way it's something that's been around for a long time now, have a Google and see what comes back :)
