A higher TDP on the AIB model 6800 XTs over the AMD reference design. Other than that, no difference.Quick question please peeps, is there any difference between the 6800XT that you can buy directly from the manufacturer and the 6800XTs from AIBs, I've some odd comments hinting at there is but just wanted to check for sure?
Sorry if this has been covered before?

Hi Matt,A higher TDP on the AIB model 6800 XTs over the AMD reference design. Other than that, no difference.
Yep all good thanks mate.Hi Matt,
Excellent, so the AIBs are the one to go for then?
What's the best custom card on OCUK at the moment, build quality, cooling, low noise etc... I've not had chance to look into AMDs yet?
Hope you're well mate?
The Merc does look niceYep all good thanks mate.
Well, i think the AMD MBA board is hard to beat on looks personally, it's a beast. It's also super quiet, even with the fan RPM increased 10% over the stock settings.
If you want the extra few percent though, an AIB model would be best. Not that many reviews out yet, but i really like the look of the XFX Merc, it sure is pretty.
Looks to be the best so far, but as i said not much to go on atm. XFX RX 6800 XT Speedster Merc 319 Review, Power, Thermals, Overclocking & Gaming - YouTube
Hardware uboxed say the Merc is better than the Nitro and the Red Devil. The others have not been reviewed yet AFAIK.The Merc does look nice
At the moment I'm looking at OCUK to supply the card I don't think they do the Merc?
Strix, Taichi, Nitro, Red Devil LTD Ed. any good?
That's interesting, thanksHardware uboxed say the Merc is better than the Nitro and the Red Devil. The others have not been reviewed yet AFAIK.
Thanks, the RD Ltd Ed looks really nice, are the LEDs customisable do you know or are they stuck on red?Red Devil is the highest quality built. If you like the design, some think it is ugly.
Here is a review:
And here is the quality analysis from buildzoid:
Another Merc review here from Igors Lab looks to be a great card, fair play to XFX after their 5700 efforts.

I appreciate this is new tech, but a pretty awful experience so far. Let's hope gaming and stress testing doesn't find even more problems.AMD Link
- Brand new AMD Link Xinput Emulation driver (AMDXE), which will improve compatibility with current and future games. This gets installed the first time game streaming starts with AMD Link and will appear as a new Xbox 360 controller in Device Manager.
Interesting this is similar behaviour as what I was seeing with New drivers and Vega. I used safe mode to install after many attenpts and black screen and repairs or restores etc. Interesting ive also setup and link but not really used it. Looks like you dug deeper than me though, prior to the 6800 drivers this behaviour never happened. I noticed on reboot after a black screen all sorts of PCI and other devices installing drivers, did you also suffer this? After battling with unrecoverable BSODs (WHEA Uncorrectable Errors) during driver installs and an inability to shutdown without pulling the power, I appear to have finally got my new 6800 behaving. It's taken about 15 hours of trial and error, including what I imagine is 25+ clean windows installs, infinite restores, testing with multiple hardware configurations/bios versions/chipset and driver versions.
In the end I had to modify the driver installer to exclude AMD Link Xinput Emulation driver (cause of BSODs I think) and AMD Navi UCSI Driver (prevented machine shutting down). The latter I'm not overly concerned about at the moment as I don't need the USB-C output, but I've no idea what I'm missing without the AMD Link Xinput Emulation driver. Any ideas beyond the fluff AMD put on their website?

I will say it now, the Asus Strix OC will be in a Tier of 1 but the Sapphire Nitro OC+ will have some special sauce in there to keep the benchmarks fairly even.
The Red Devil probably has the strongest cooler but i am not sure the PCB+VRM is as good.
Asus strix oc will have a hilarious price tag when it actually becomes available im sure.
