I was listening to Nicky Campbells "Your call" on Radio 5 Live as i do every morning, this morning the theme was remembering lost souls from the armed forces with people ringing in with stories and anecdotes about their dads, mums, husbands, grandads etc etc, you know the kind of thing.

One young guy was on with a story about his neighbour, an old man who tended his garden with "military precision", as the years went by the old man struggled to keep his garden up together so he was made by his mum to help out, which he begrudgingly did. Over time he got to know the old man very well and he became his best friend, he would tell him the stories about his time in the war, the battles he was in, the good friends he made and had lost, all the many things that had happened to him.

When the old man passed away there were just three people at his funeral, the caller, a woman from the British legion and the old mans' meals on wheels lady.

It might not seem that poignant the way i have written it here but the way the caller expressed it and the image of an empty church and this guy who had given so much for others just tipped me over the edge and i could not hold my emotions in, i'm a 43 year old bloke, i don't cry very often as you can imagine.
There was a silence on the radio too, i think Nicky had a shed a tear aswell.

:(

Anyone had similar ?

Heard it as well. Been choked all day, which hasn't helped my ability to get any work done. Should never have worked from home today...
