Well I haven't bought the Radio Times since the days of being a kid and being forced to buy both the Radio and TV Times at Christmas because the Radio Times only had the BBC while TV Times had ITV and C4. Then I would sit with my highlighter pen and mark up all the good shows worth watching and taping on the betamax. It was an annual ritual that I looked forward to almost as much as Christmas itself.

So this year, I thought I would do the same as I have two weeks off which I intend to use watching TV, drinking and eating. I opened the Radio Times and my first reaction was- What the HELL have they done to it???

It's like reading assembly language now. There are more channels listed in it than are possible to comprehend. The ten minute task of highlighting the best of xmas would easily take an hour. So after a few bah humbugs, I gave it to mrsyoustolemyname who decided she would have a go at the highlighter pen ritual.

It's in the bin now as neither of us could be bothered...

I blame sky...

yup i used to do this. And the program the vcr to tape all the stuff. Haven't bought RT for about 10 years now. These days I can watch almost any film or TV program I like when i like. thanks to the wonders of the internet and numerous tv channels and digiguide.

Sunday papers generally do a 2-week coverage of xmas TV. My parents usually pick up the Sunday Times one these days, which is quite easy to circle the stuff and read.

Actually i have to admit i used to do this, probably back when i didn't have broadband, now i just go to the RT website and find out what's on the box that day. I used to look forward to movies being shown that i haven't seen before but as I got older and go to the cinema more, and having a rental queue with Love Film, it's rare that I come across a movie that i slightly interested and not seen yet.

Ah yes the Radio Times ritual, for me it was a biro pen circling everything then prepping up Video Plus on overtime :D

My missus spent 90 mins doing this on Firday.

I can promise she won't ever open it over xmas or set Sky+ to record them, kept her entertained though :D
