I've a rough idea what you mean.
Precisely? less so!

Is EU4 very different to CK2, they look like they use the same map?

Yep!
My offer on teaching some EU4 stuff still stands if you fancy trying that out too, I found it easier to get into than CK2 personally. Also, the host allows the joiners to have the same DLC during multiplayer so you only need the base game.
That would be really cool. I'm just not sure what my schedule is over the next few days. Today is a total wipe out with a doctors appointment and a job meeting. But maybe later on this week?
How would we go about doing it? Skype call to each other for voice chat and then just a standard multiplayer game or some other way?
Haven't seen any decent Ww2 ones that really excited me since Close Combat3, which I loved. More recently, I was directed to XCOM, which frankly is bloody brilliant and should be on anyone's shopping list. Particularly so as there's "long war" as a free mod available to extend the interest.
I have a mumble server we can use, you can just download the client and put in the relevant server details when I send them to you, pretty simple
For me the best time will be evening, probably after 20:00 - 20:30.
Company of Heroes was always quite fun. I got annoyed with leaving a tank for a minutes or two, defending a position, building a new structure, or fighting with other units elsewhere to come back and find my tank dead in the middle of the enemy base...
Started playing more COH2 since the British Expansion and now feel it is a better game than it's predecessor. It's become my new go to game.
Other RTS games I have played and like to play are:
C&C: Red Alert (1, 2 + Yuri's Revenge)
C&C 1 & 3 (less said about TS the better)
Supreme Commander: FA and Supreme Commander 2. I prefer the way you can tweak the difficulty of SC2, as opposed to SC's options which jump between difficulty alarmingly.
Rise of Nations (Extended Edition on Steam)
Age of Empires 1,2 + 3
Total Annihilation
KKND Extreme
StarCraft 1 + 2
Not an exhaustive list.
I'd like to enjoy the Civ series, but don't have the patience for how long it takes to play 1 game.
Not sure I'll be able to make that to be honest at the moment. I have to get up quite early in the mornings at the moment and am generally in bed by about 20:00.
Now my PC is at a desk I can finally play some mouse only games! First on the list is Wasteland 2 (I brought it in kickstarter never even finished Highpool hahah)
Any pro tips? Im just about to go up the lift into the proper village bit.
While I hate to say this when you've just picked it back up again... wait for the Directors Cut edition
Will improve some of the flaws the game did have (I still REALLY enjoyed it, but it does have some issues later on in the game), upgrade the visuals (not massively important to me but still nice) change combat a fair bit and change how you build your characters to give them a little more depth.
It'll be free to all current owners, and I believe the release date is 16/10/15
It's why I've held off on my Divinity: original sin play-through after I had to stop fairly early on, will wait for the 'enhanced edition' and start again.
I miss Rise of Nations.Spent so much time playing that game multiplayer. I know it's on Steam but it's not the same any more.[/QUOT
I miss this game loadsSo many hours of fun ...
I find I can't get in to these games anymore , I use to spend hours and hours on games like this , The ones I will never forget and its a shame they didnt make a new one is CossacksThis game was amazing & I was pretty good it at and then after that I got in to Rise of nations and that was a lot of fun , I did use to play the DW games as well but no one seems to play them online anymore.
I am a big C&C and AoE 1,2 and 3 fan but for some reason I struggle to get into other strategy games. Has anyone got any recommendations For similar base based games?
Also I feel like I should like Civ games (for the same reasons I like AoE games... I like the idea of progressing a Civilisation through the ages). Which civ game is the best for beginners to the game type?
