Just one of these things which people have started saying. My mates and I say it all the time. They also like to say "I'm gonna kill your family" if you 'rape them' at a game

It's only the degradation of the English language, don't worry.

My wife uses 'devastated' all the time, "ohh I missed Corry last night I was devastated" I shudder to think what she would feel when something serious happens.

Not really. If I knew someone who'd actually been raped, I wouldn't go "Pfft, that's nothing" just because it's bandied around with a different meaning in a completely unrelated situation. Just like you don't go "You've got AIDS? Lol AIDS" in real life, unless you're an utter ****.

Context is kinda crucial here.
