Thread seems a little out of date as far as ROH concerned. Still makes no odds really. We can all get on with enjoying our goodies.
Apparently there are reboot issues with Intel patches - not sure if they are in the bios update mentioned above, but holding off on mine for now.

Apparently so. I'd recommend waiting for the revised microcode.

I've held back for the revised microcode.

Also worth waiting as ASUS are yet to issue a fix for the Intel Management Engine vulnerability:

Hi Cosimo,
Thought that Asus bios 1102 had the fixed ime engine in it, but perhaps I have it wrong. Either way I am holding off updating at this point.

The ME version number in the bios remains unchanged so they haven't updated it.

Updated the ME myself, new gone from 11.10.0.1287 to 11.11.50.1436 and reporting tool says all clear for this vulnerability.

I updated the ME a few days ago but ive held off on the BIOS update for the moment.

Noticed any negative effects from the update? Where did you get the updated IME from?

Not noticed anything. Station drivers have the update which you have to run from powershell.

Guys,

Other than for water cooling options (which I'm not going to do) and having a greater RAM capacity, is there any significant reason to go for the Extreme over the Apex?

Not massively, The Extreme does have 10G, Wireless AD, slightly diffrent I/O and of course all the bling, OLED panel, RGB, Addressable header 2 way effect being the large difference. Extreme also does not support Kabylake-X.

I was worried there might be some other restriction(s). The 10G, wireless and bling are nice to haves, but I reckon I can put the funds saved by choosing the Apex over the Extreme, into other components.

Bios 1301 are now up for both motherboards with the latest/revised Intel Microcode. (Skylake 0x2000043)
