**The Secret World**

Stunning game.

Number 2 in the Top 5 games of my all time list and looking good for the number 1 spot. (that being reserved by ELITE)

So if you like to think and not have things handed to you on a plate then this is the game for you. MMPORG wise.

If your a WOW player i guess you will hate it. But WOW is not the only game in the universe on how things should be done.

The game is unplayable for me. In the main hubs I am having huge loading issues in that when I move or turn the framerate drops to 18 and when I stop moving it rises to 60 and above. Graphics settings have zero effect. I am using dX9 and have updated to the latest nVidia beta drivers. My GPU usage is 50 - 60% and I am using 1gb vram (total 1279MB). My dual core CPU usage is about 70% and memory usage is 3GB (total 4GB). I do not know if this is related but the London starter area takes just over 2 minutes to load.

I have no idea whats causing this. I regret breaking my MMO rule of not trying before buying.

About to purchase this, quick question though, will I have to download the entire client, or can I just patch the beta client?

You can patch the beta :)

Saguy: They've acknowledged that London is a big performance drain and lots of people are experiencing issues with lag, missing textures and the like there. If you've created a Templar, I'd suggest making a Dragon or Illuminati and seeing if New York or Seoul are any better for you.

sounds like I'd better download the client well in advance of my 24 hour play session this weekend :P better get on that tonight

Thanks, I will give that a go.

Are there any cabals for Illuminati,

loving teh game but it feels like a single player game, little or no chat not even much advertising of cabals etc. Be nice to have peeps to play with.

Must admit the graphics in this game are really nice when everything is on max, in the beta I thought they looked poor but swear they look different now.

It's only since the patch the other day that I've been able to max the graphics. God rays look amazing, but they have this annoying shimmer effect when you move that gives me a headache :(

I love the tessellation, I didn't think that would be a feature games could make much use out of at the moment due to the tools and processing power needed but I think it looks great in this! It just adds that little extra texture to dungeons and such and brings the overall atmosphere up a couple of notches.

As for gameplay I'm really enjoying the Assault Rifle and now even more so with going more towards healing so I'm semi useful. As a DPS I didn't really feel all that powerful but I think that is mainly due to mobs have a rather large amount of HP.

I've been mixing assault rifle healing with elemental, been working quite well so far. One of the 1st level elite elemental skills applies afflicted if the target is hindered, and there's a nice rifle opener that does an AoE hinder. So they're slowed and DoT'd on the first attack and you can build up your counters as they close.

I need to invest some points in the hate management misc tree now though.

It's a Failcom game, when will they realise a global channel is utter ********?
It gives rise to every troll playing to spam the **** out of it and ruin your gametime.

Just turn general off. And the help channel, and your faction.

Yes you can, but sadly the ignore list is never big enough.

Seriously, just turn General off, it's the first thing that should be done in *any* mmorpg, least of all in one which it's easy to read massive spoilers and solutions to quests you want to work out yourself.
Your life will be better without General!

I wouldn't go as far as you, but goddamn I'm enjoying it. The quests are pretty refreshing, although you have your hand held a litle, there's times when you absolutely dont, and it's such a nice change.

Just wish I had an idea of faction totals per server so I could make sure I'm not in a massively overpopulated one. It seems that my Templar (main) and Dragon (tester, to have a look) are both rolled on servers with population bias in their favour. This probably wont matter to most, but since I absolutely intend to pvp in the fixed server area, I need to be an underdog to guarantee action.

First game in years that has me pretending to work by creating a spreadsheet character plan at my desk ;)
