the skyrim ending?

so to start off with I don't want to actually know the ending, just a small part of it. bought the game recently and after a bit of game time I noticed that there are a few factions to choose from.

after playing fallout 4 I thought that the ending would result in me having to choose from a certain faction to have to "complete" the game.

is that how it turns out in the end? just want to know so I can choose one to stick with.

Yes and no; progress in one of the civil war factions alter one (I think) mission in the main questline but the final outcome isn't affected by it.

I was thinking of choosing the stormcloaks , the ones allied with the guy that was in the cart at the intro. besides that I chose to be a mage and have done the college missions and got the arch mage robes.

the last mission I done that had something to do with the cival war was the negotiation for a truce until alduin is dead.
