Ben Mezrich - The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook.

I got the audiobook from Audible after a recommendation from my friend Leo Laporte. Listened to all 7 hours of it in one sitting. I thought it was great, and can't wait to see the film.

It is a totally one sided as Zuckerburg refused to had no input into the book or film. 99% of the people involved in the writing have been involved in legal actions against Zuckerburg at some point so do you really think they are the best people to ask for input when trying to tell a balanced story?

People less involved in the whole facebook history thing who know Zuckerburg say the character is totally wrong and has little or no resemblence to him and the motives played out are not those which drove him.

While it maybe a good piece of film making and a clever story to take it at face value is at best nieve, until Zuckerburg presents his side of the story no meaningfull conclusions can be drawn. Your enemies will never be your best biographers!

I wont lie, I thought this sounded pap to about it being Facebook on film, then I heard the interview on Radio 1 on Saturday, and I now wish to watch this as it sounds intriguing.

I'm looking forward to this. I dont know any other details about the incident other than the basics so I'd be intersted to hear more about it.

Well I've sat through two very long hours of this movie and have to say it's as awful as I was expecting from the trailers. Zuckerberg is portrayed as a hyper-intelligent, speed-talking, anti-social ********. It's practically impossible to sympathise with him because he is so completely irritating and repellent. The dialogue is written to highlight his intellect because of course in the US billionaires are royalty and anybody who is a billionaire must be an absolute genius. You also have to give a toss about Facebook and believe it was a brilliant idea rather than luck.

If you can stand two hours of worthless hype/tripe about Zuckerberg and Facebook you'll enjoy this film, needless to say I didn't.

OK I've seen it now. It was OK. I liked the geeky stuff, like the references to Wget etc.

It was well shot but some areas of the plot were slightly unbelievable. I still think Pirates of Silicon Valley was better. (And yes, as I suspected, The Social Network is basically just a sequel to that movie).

I'm guessing it will be a long time before we know the actual truth but I doubt it will fall far from what the film projects. I mean the lawsuits were defo real and since they paid up, it couldn't have been all clear.

stunningly absorbing film ...sharp and pithy ...All the central perfomances are impressive ...may well be the best film I have seen this year ...well scored by Trent Reznor
Agreed :)
I've only watched the trailers so far and it comes across as dreadful, dreadful, old Hollywood tosh.
I didn't think much of the trailer at the time.

Ye, I also appreciated the fairly solid tech references.
Just seen it, was okay, but could have been better.
Could have done with an exploding helicopter?

Yep I really liked it! The direction was really good and the music was incredible in all areas! Well acted as well - surprisingly good performance by Justin Timberlake!

Very much enjoyed it. I do wonder if I, and many others, would have made such a big deal of the soundtrack being so good if we did not already know it was by TR? It was fantastic, though.

Odeon Premier seats are a massive letdown, by the by. We moved to normal ones. No movable arm rest and how godamn hard do they need to be?!

I was thinking that - I'm definitely a bit biased because the name Trent Razor caught my eye in the credits in the beginning, so I was listening out for the music in the film :p
