*** The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Thread ***

Always amuses me when a certain member is constantly scouring the forums waiting to jump down the throat of anyone who dares to criticise a hardware manufacturer.
We all get our kicks in different ways I guess!

Oooh, touchy

Stay frosty..

Maybe, just maybe the suggestion would be if you are a person who demands perfection would be to wait a bit so the kinks get figured out.

New firmware rolling now apparently according to xda.

Picked one of these up today. Wasn't getting along with the G4, it's size really made realise how much I missed a smaller phone. Its great having all these features but when you have to compromise them because the battery cant keep up its pointless. I'm hoping the battery claims for the Z5 compact delivers. What are peoples experiences of battery life?

4 hours sot from 8.30am today, 33‰ left all radios on. I use Stamina mode with exceptions allowed for Sky Go, WhatsApp, Phone, Contacts, Camera, Messaging as that keeps the phone running smoothly with little wake up lag. No sign of the Mobile active bug with those stamina settings.

Compared to the S6 I got rid of, night and day. I literally struggle to use the battery up in a day no matter how much I hammer it.

That's good to hear

I saw this on gumtree last week for £290 "New".
No idea why it was so cheap, everything looked okay.

Whilst I thought If I was to go for the Xperia, I'd get the standard Z5.
Should've really just bit the bullet and asked for more info and potentially bought it, just hit home how much of a steal* it was.

*maybe it was stolen lol.

So first proper days use. I am at 4 hours SOT with 20% remaining. Phone came off the charger at around 7.30am.

That's with stamina mode on, automatic brightness and my corporate email set to 30 minute intervals, gps, bluetooth and nfc off. I've made 2 hours 12 minutes of calls

That sound about right? Doesn't look like i'll get anywhere near the claimed 2 day battery life.

So maybe it's the mobile active bug. Facebook has only used the cpu for 8 minutes but has 1hr 42m Mobile radio active and accounted for 8% of battery. Same for youtube, 6min cpu but 2hr mobile radio, overall 9% of battery. Similar for deezer and chrome.

Any idea how I can stop this?

The claimed 2 days is for "normal" use. Yours is far from that, it's very heavy use. Battery is impressive all things considered.

You should be easily able to get 2 days with over 2 hours sot and an hour of calls a day.

That's the thing, I wouldn't have considered that as heavy use based on what some people are stating. The only abnormal thing was the amount of calls, but wasn't showing as a big drain in the battery usage details. Hence wondering if it was the mobile active bug in my previous post...

It's first charge don't forget, and calls can use as much as screen depending on signal.

About 5 hours sot with 2.5 hours of calls is very good.

Give it a few charges and try leaving overnight off charge to see how it gets on.

Yesterdays was much better, and today's has been excellent so far 50% left with 3hr 30mn sot.

Damn, I'm guessing you are in a strong signal area?

I work at EE so as you'd expect the signal strength is excellent in the office. Frustratingly, at home not so much.

I have to say I'm loving the phone. I found the G4 way too big and coming from a HTC m8 it just felt cheap. Although I wanted something smaller I was a little apprehensive about just how small this would be, but it's refreshing to have something that can be used one handed and feels really solid. Big fan so far.
