*** The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Thread ***

Personally I think a lot of people pinning their hopes on this new camera aapp to be some sort of savoir, are going to end up disappointed.

I don't think the blurred edges will be resolved by the app but we'll see

Oh and Z5 Compact @ O2 for £360

Just about every camera on the market has to use software to correct lense abhorrence at some point in its focal range.

Sony have already said that it will be fixed in an upcoming update.

As no one seems to go into the Z3 threads anymore I thought I'd ask in here - has anyone had their screen or back glass replaced by Sony and know the cost? They charge £20 to return the phone if I don't approve their repair quote but I'm not going to send it in if it's going to cost almost as much as the phone is worth to replace them.

You've contacted Sony support? It will probably cost £50+.

You could replace the back yourself for peanuts if you dont care for the waterproofing.

I am really tempted by one of these, but the screen resolution is putting me off. The lack of space once the onscreen keyboard appears being a major thing.

I went from a Nexus 4 to a Nexus 5 and looking back at the 4 (my wife uses it now) the lack of screen estate bugs me.

What is the GPS like on these, the awful GPS on my Nexus 5 is one of main motivations to replace it.

This phone is great by the way. Compared to the Z3c its looks/feel in the hand are so much improved (else its exactly the same!).

You can vastly improve photos turning the exposure down - even better using it in manual. I still think Sony is lacking in this department (caveat, I haven't used the latest camera software)

By the way if anyone is looking for a case I ordered the Orzly flexiSlim case - its so good, so thin and barely adds any bulk to the phone. Not the best for drops I imagine but offers some protection, mainly for scratches.

Marshmallow update was meant to be out at the end of Jan and no sign of it yet.

Yeah I heard rumblings of Feb, and also - its been delayed but not date confirmed yet. Apparently other brand have done the same? Really not sure though.
